LOL I have used both and like both. They both need to be calibrated, and the meter reads in ms, and needs to be converted to SG. John Oh I misread, pH meter not salinity meter! Origami February 28, 2009 Share February 28, 2009 Refractometer: Big thumbs up. pH meter: Mixed feelings on this. Titration test kits can give you pretty good results. Sugar Magnolia March 25, 2009 Share March 25, 2009 Another vote for refractometers. When I got mine, and compared the reading with my hydrometer it was off. Hydrometer read 1.026 and the refracto read 1.028. I got mine from Premium Aquatics for $50 or so. pH I just test with a Salifert test kit.
