flowerseller June 23, 2007 June 23, 2007 I only found one of the bangai cardinals this time and it's eating. Unfortunately, I'm sure all it's siblings were eaten themselves the night before last. We knew it was coming and hatched a batch of BBS that began this afternoon. An eye dropper full and this little runt goes nuts. It's in our HOB fuge this time around. Nothing like the first time when I found 5 and could not get them to eat anything we tried, including newly hatched BBS. I think it's already growing.

That way any little bugs in the fuge could help feed the babies." I just rolled my eyes, waved my hand, and said "What ever you want baby". I then walked into another room and high fived Jesse. Sometimes you gotta let em think it was their idea. :wink:

flowerseller June 25, 2007 Author June 25, 2007 We're on our second hatch of BBS and the little cardinal is clearly growing and has excellent color. It looks like it should be in a movie called "Honey I shrunk the cardinal". I skirt in newly hatched BBS and the thing goes nuts. Definatley getting bigger
Lee Stearns June 26, 2007 June 26, 2007 Very nice- you will find that the young take cyclopese fairly quickly which can get you out of the hatching BBS business. Congrats. Catching the Male at the exact right day before he spits out is quite an evolution and requires as much luck as skill. If you catch him to early he will spit them out before they are motile. if too late they are fish food unles you can find one or two in the overflow. My Male has stopped carrying to full term. I have seen him with eggs twice this year and then after a few days no eggs.Good luck with yours Chip. Regards,
flowerseller July 3, 2007 Author July 3, 2007 It's eating frozen cyclops and has now aquired a few of the dots on it's tail. Looks like it's got a fat belly too. Still shy of us but seems to be getting less skittish. Still have my fingers crossed.

It eats bbs well and is in a hang on box inside the tank this time. Still won't look at any other food yet. Plus, poppa has just stopped eating and has a square jaw. He's holding again but maybe 7-10 days or more away from spitting. No way to catch him............
