Most people suggest overnight - because of any possible evil chemicals. On the other hand, if it's an emergency - 10 minutes should do it.

So that was the right part and the right size? Great! :)

You can run water through PVC within minutes after gluing. I wait 10-15 minutes then put it right to use. No issues at all.

My unofficial test is the sniff test. After gluing, when you can't smell the solvent anymore then it is cured enough to use.

A variation of this is a lick test...

well i waited about 20 or 30 mins to be safe and it is up and running so with that i have employed the use of my first external pump and hard plumbing. yes it worked. youre the man bob. also in relation to the algae, the tang has ignored it so thats great and i hope it grows well. i would like to get it around to bring down the price. its so beautiful

Uh, Craig, don't forget that PVC solvent is a carcinogen... the sniff test is REALLY bad for you!

I usually wait a few minutes, blow as much air through the pipe as possible to clear as many fumes as I can then run it in tap water a minute or so. This will usually help to cure the remaining solvent on the surface. Then I use it, easy as that. It will continue to cure on the inside for a few hours afterwards as well, but as long as it's not a high pressure system, it doesn't make much if any difference simply running water through it.

I accidentally inhaled a bit once and it almost knocked me out. I got a deep breat of the fumes and my eyes crossed, my vision blurred, I almost puked, and it took me a minute to get my bearings.

There's a label w/directions?

After about 9 paragraphs of warnings, there's actually 1 line of directions.

I don't sit there and huff it. Just a quick sniff, its probably better for you than the polluted DC air we all breathe every day anyway.

reminds me of the time I was doing a bunch of small pvc glue ups and lef the caps off of the primer and glue cans. I got pretty loopy, but just had another margarita and forgot about it.
