  1. If you haven't seen: https://www.saltwateraquarium.com/video/hilary-jaffe-on-location/unpack-a-clean-up-crew/
  2. Last I bought online was from Saltwateraquarium.com. Everything was well package, bags were marked, healthy and the inverts were much larger than the ones I've received from other on line vendors.
  3. Any chance of MACNA coming this way again?
  4. Thanks for the reply................
  5. Question.....is it normal to read high phosphates(0.66 via Hanna ULR) after the initial cycle?
  6. So......how would you rate the ordering/pickup process?
  7. Was having issues with rocks leeching phosphates, dinos and red turf algae that I could not get rid of. Pulled all of the rock and soaked in muriatic acid for 6+ hours. Rinse the rock, set out to air dry. During this time the rock was rained on twice and snowed on once. Let the rock air dry again for 4 days. During all of this vacuumed the $h!* out of the sand bed and drains the tank of all water. Placed the rock into the tank(225 gals.) and dosed with 32 oz. of Turbo Start 900. Waited for water to clear and added fish this past Saturday. Today Seachem ammonia wheel shows zero and Hanna Nitrate HR shows 46 ppm. Fish are swimming around, eating and looking fine. Do I wait for nitrates to drop or do a water change?
  8. Thanks for the replies.................will rinse in RODI water.
  9. When doing the "smell test' it smells sort of like ocean water.
  10. Doing a reboot of my tank. Pulled the rock and did a muriatic acid bath, rinsed and left outside to dry for about a week. It's been raining the past couple of days and there's a prediction of snow. Filling the tank with rodi water and wondering if it's okay to put the wet rock into the tank or should I let dry?
  11. I'm thinking starting with the uncured dead rock is the root of the problem. Previous tank split and had to wait nearly 2 months for the replacement. Stored the rock in a brute with no heater or circulation pump. After a quick wash down put it in the tank to start the cycle. Was thinking about that but I have a couple of Tangs I would need to rehome to go that route. Yes, clear ostreopsis dinos. Uv will keep them at bay but doesn't eradicate them. Tried the urchins and just about every snail you can think of...........
  12. All of the rock. You name it, I've tried it. It's my understanding that the muriatic acid will kill any and everything on the rock including the beneficial bacteria. Forgot to mention the rocks are leaching phosphates. I can lower it to 0.08 with LC and 3-4 days later phosphates are back to 0.39. Yes I have. Had the owner of a LFS (longtime sponsor here) tell me it was coralline algae.
  13. I've been battling problem after problem with this tank for the past Two years. Bryopsis, Aptasia, Dinos, Red Turf Algae, etc. Think I'm gonna pull the rock and give it a acid bath, clean the sand and start anew with fresh water. Started the tank dead live rock which I feel is the root of the problem. Plan is to acid wash the rock, citric acid wash the the tank and equipment, restart with TurboFritz 900. Thoughts? Rock as of today: Rock before cleaning:
  14. In my limited experience, dosing potassium nitrate to raise nitrates will also lower phosphates. I would consider dosing potassium phosphate to bring the phosphate up along with your nitrate dosing as raising one will usually lower the other.
  15. Just pointing out the thread.
  16. Plugged it into the Apex for that purpose. The issue is when the Kamoer restarts, it does not pickup where it left off as the flow rate needs to be reset.
  17. Can this pump be set to run in timed intervals or is it made to run continuously? If I want the pump to dose kalk say 12 hours nightly is there a way to do it? TIA

  20. When I was looking for a replacement for a 210, I contacted Capital Aquarium and at that time tank delivery was part of the install service.
  21. House of Tropicals in Glen Bernie will usually have a couple. Would call first.
