  1. Sean, I will be by on Saturday to check things out. Chris
  2. Bob, I still would like to get a bunch of these stars. I will PM you some time to arrange for a meeting. Chris
  3. As for bulb combos I would go with the aquablue and blue+. Good luck. BTW, Champion Lighting is now selling T5 setups too. Chris
  4. T5 T5 T5 all the way... You will probably get more light out of a 2x T5 setup than a 3x65w PC set up (especially if you overdirive them). If you go with a 4x T5 setup, that is way more than enough light for the inhabitants you listed. Chris
  5. Happy Birthday - Jake
  6. Go with T5s! I have had PC and there is no comparison to the T5s. With that size of tank and T5s over it you would have no problem with clams. I have two clams in my 90. One about 14 inches down and the other on the bottom. See my signature for my light set up. I did have a clam in a 55 with 4x55w PC with the clam about 4 inches below the surface. I had the thing for more than 5 years. Chris
  7. Rocko, I will attempt to be at the meeting as well. Could I get some also. Chris
  8. Rocko, How big do they get? No side effects from them? Would like to get some. Chris
  9. Here are the easiest directions: ---From my house--- Turn right, go 1 block Turn right again go 1 block Now turn left 1/4 mile Turn right into shopping center and go to F&F. Total time less than 2 minutes. Sorry everyone, I just had to add this in
  10. The acclimation method I referenced in another thread regarding T5s it to use fiberglass window/door screen material. Cut to size and have 4 or 5 layers. If you do not have anything to support these, use wooden dowels layed across the tank (front to back). Remove one layer every 4 or 5 days. The intensity maybe similar to a MH setup but the wavelengths will be different. So, acclimate your corals to the new bulbs. (from Miami for the next 10 days) Chris
  11. I have had success with the Yellow Tang taking care of this type of algae. cr
  12. I have one about the same size and only has got a fish when it has died. Was nice because the fish never perish and lay in the front to be taken out, always behind the rocks. I have had this one for about 7 years now. Makes for a great show when I have kids visiting my house and I feed the "monster". Chris
  13. ValveStore.com From their web site: water application 2 way solenoid valves for 1" line range in price from $200 to $1200. Watch for the construction material of the valve, many are brass. Check valve and/or drill anti-siphon holes at top of drains and returns about 1" below water surface is a much cheaper solution. Clean the anit-siphon holes regularly and they work!
  14. I purchased my Oceanic from Superpetz with cap and stand, best deal I could find around here but, for other stuff not my store. Fins & Feathers is Ashburn has great fish and coral pricing. All healthy.
  15. Sean, I will try to make it by Tuesday evening. Chris
  16. Chip, Your just not listening hard enough :ears: Steps to hear your fish... 1. get a ladder 2. take the cap and light off the tank 3. climb ladder 4. bend over and stick head in tank 5. listen...at this point you should hear laughter.
  17. Will do Rebecca. cr
  18. Sean, Might be stopping by for the sale Chris
  19. Local sources for 1/2"
  20. Tanks all.
  21. FYI, I saw the info on the flex pvc at FlexPVC.com
  22. I read online that flexible PVC should not be used for lines transporting water for human consumption. Is this a concern for our aquatic life if it is used? Chris
  23. With 6 T5s over the tank you have no problems for intensity or enough light for your corals. Worried about the spread, again by time it reached the bottom it will have spread out. Also, if your rockwork extends high into the corners there should be lower light here because of the 24" bulbs. Try shrooms or other lower light corals there as well and see if they like it. Chris
  24. I will put my tank up for display. I will have to get back to you on a good time (not immediately soon though, March or April maybe). A bonus is, I live just down the street from Fins&Feathers in Ashburn. You could visit this store, bring $ cause the prices are good and you will want something. When I decide on a time, I will coordinate with Sean at F&F to make sure he will be at the store for potential visitors. Ask him about his Spring plans :2thumbsup:
  25. Just bought a 160g bucket from Fins&Feathers in Ashburn. Priced at $49.99 but, take the 20% WAMAS discount and it $39.99. I'll support that from a store in my neighborhood. cr
