  1. I snapped the top of an old Euroreef skimmer and live in an area where acrylic glues/solvents aren't locally available. Before I place an online I wanted to make sure I order the right thing. Someone suggested weld-on #4 followed by #16. Any input on what product to get and what site to get it from would be greatly appreciated. tom
  2. fire up some rotifers and greenwater and lets see what these hybrids look like
  3. I'm putting a closed loop on my 90 (50px-x pan world pump) which has 1" input and output. Is a single 1" return OK or should I split it for 2 returns. I was thinking a single 1" might have to much suction for passing fish, etc? tom
  4. I'm a HUGE Charlie Brown fan. Actually not. I was new to the hobby and just looking for a short name that included 'reef' without making drug references
  5. Is there any way to get 180 degree coverage with a 1" sea swirl. You can get 1/2" and 3/4" loc-line 'Y' fittings but nothing for the 1". There are 1" 'wye' fittings but thats the closest I've been able to find. tom
  6. Looking to add a closed loop to my 90g. It will be returning via a 3/4 or 1" sea swirl and need it to be external. Any thought on what pump I should use. I was looking at the ocean runner 3500 but wasn't sure about the heat issue. Any input would be greatly appreciated tom
  7. Someone posted a link to a good deal on the 'DJ' type power strips (each outlet has a switch) a while back but I can't find it now. Any ideas. thanks
  8. I saw a beautiful picture of a 'Dot and Dash wrasse but can't seem to find anything by that name. Can anyone tell me its latin/other common name? (pretty sure its a flasher wrasse) tom

Fish killer, you should be ashamed
  10. It's a company called Seeds Etc., mainly horticulture stuff but also a good bit of aquarium products. The Tek 8 lamp T5 setup with Gieseman bulbs is a hair under $500 shipped. Anyone knowing of a better deal, let me know
  11. I plan on getting a Tek T5 8 bulb set up but wasn't sure what combination of bulbs to get. I like a 'bright' (10K XM) look more than a bluer (14K) look. I found a great 'bulbs included' price with horticulture bulbs but offering the following upgrades. D-D Giesemann Midday: $6.00 per lamp D-D Giesemann Aquablue: $8.00 per lamp D-D Giesemann Pure Actinic Plus or True Actinic $10.00 per lamp D Giesemann Blue Actinic Plus or Blue: $6.00 per lamp If anyone with T5's has any imput on what combo they have used or seen for an 8 lamp set up I would love to hear from you. thanks tom
  12. I've always wanted a purple but have been scared off by the reports of their aggressiveness. I will be setting up a 90g in a month or two and am working on a fish wish list (say that 3 times fast). Other thoughts were -powder blue (90 too small?) or Tomini? Anyway, any tang input would be appreciated. tom
  13. I'm still stumped. What I just noticed is that the polyps are extended at night but retract with any light. I checked and I don't have an appreciable pH swing (I run the refugium light at night) I don't have any leathers in the tank but I do have a couple huge pompom xenia that have really taken off. Does iodine (depletion) affect acro's??? Thanks for the reply's. The tank itself has only been up about 4 months. tom
  14. About 2 days ago I notice all the polyps on my acro's and milli's were completely retracted. I have yet been unable to discover what changed. Temp, s.p. and nitrates are fine. All montipora's still look good and fully extended if that helps in the diagnosis. HELP! Any idea's on possible causes/remedies would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Tom
