  1. You might want to look up Majano. I've had some of those in my tank and they are not good. You can get rid of them with a Kalk injection or order Joe's Juice from one of the on-line places. Where are you located? I'm in Woodbridge and have some Joe's Juice and syringe if you need it. I would positively identify it before you kill it.........don't want to kill anything good! Oh, and Welcome to the club!
  2. I knew that hermits killed for shells......and food. It just seems that the bluelegs killed more often........and a lot of times it's hermits with smaller shells. I think I'll just stick to the scarlet and redleg.
  3. Jake- I agree that we definately need hermits to clean the rocks. In my little bit of experience I have found that the bluelegs seem to be the most vicious of the hermits. My scarlets, mexican redleg and zebra hermits will occasionally battle for shells but the bluelegs seem to thrive on it. As my 5 year old says.......they're just big fat meanies!
  4. I have read that when cucumbers get stressed they will release toxins into the water that can kill fish and corals. Be sure you keep your water levels about the same.
  5. Well, I must have a fighting conch because it never leaves the sand. I lost it for a week once and then all of a sudden it just rose out of the sand. It's also kinda cool to just watch it's trunk come out and start vacuuming. BTW - You will be surprised at how fast it can move......H-E-double hocky sticks on wheels!
  6. I'm with xeon on the Conchs. I got a queen conch from Paul Jarosh and she just loves churning up the sand. Between the conch and the nassarius snails my sandbed stays looking pretty sharp. Howard - get rid of the bluelegs. Pick them out one at a time and put them in your sump/fuge. I only have a few of them in my 120 and I'm working on getting them out. I have noticed a lot of little baby nassarius snails in my tank since I got rid of most of the blue legs.
  7. Ben, I have a MRC CR-1 calcium reactor that I'm not using on my tank if you want to use it on your frag tank. All we need is a regulator and some media and you're good to go. Let me know and we'll work out the details getting it to you. Steve
  8. Not even by a degree from mid-day to midnight?
  9. I hate you Chris.........just because you have that awsome brain and I don't. :D Wait, I might want to re-word that statement!
  10. Not trying to hijack this thread but have a question on this topic: Why would you want to stabalize your temps? There is a temperature fluctuation in the wild and I would think having one in your tank would be good for the livestock (makes them tougher). I can understand not wanting your tank to get up to 90 degrees but going from 75 at night up to 82 during the day would be fine I would think.
  11. Update- I whacked them with a dose of Joe's Juice and there is not much left of them. I'm going to inject them again today along with some Xenia and some zoos to try and get some population control in my tank.
  12. Thanks Grav........I think I just wet myself reading your rants!! :P
  13. Kent's garlic xtreme works wonders. Soak your Nori in it before you give it to him.
  14. sorry Yanek......but that's a toadstool. However the sarco frag is doing very well.
  15. Actually it's a brownish rust color......but they split about every 2-3 weeks.
  16. Isn't she a beaut! Unfortunately this is what happens when a green slimer bleaches.......and I don't think it's going to make a recovery. But here's a pic of my neon green slimer:
  17. Are these things BTA's or majano:
  18. Ok, I'm )%&*^% PISSED! It's my own fault, but the Naso tang died. I should have left him at petco.......he would have met the same fate and I wouldn't have fueled the fire. Isn't that cruelty to animals keeping a 4" tang in a 20g tank? I just had to vent........and of course........THEY HAVE NO GuARUNTEE ON THEIR SALTWATER FISH!
  19. That's just mean.......showing us what we can't afford! BB......I would have to think that if they can afford a tank like that......they can afford to pay someone to clean it!
  20. Is it too late to volunteer? I wish I could have made it. Nice frags.
  21. Gary - Thanks for the input. I'll pickup some of the sushi Nori on the way home. Erik - I believe you are correct! When are we going to play Montclair?
  22. I know it's going to have to move on to a larger tank, but I couldn't resist. I know I added some fuel to the fire, but c'mon......a 4" Naso for $20.00. Unfortunately I don't have a QT ready do I put him right in my show tank. Erik - The yellow has already stopped screwing with him. He's not showing any signs of stress other than he seems very lethargic and won't eat.
  23. So I go to Petco and commit the ultimate mistake........I felt sorry for a 4" Naso Tang in a 20g tank so I bought him......for $20.00 no less. I'm hoping he's just stressed out but I'm worried about him. I got him yesterday and as of yet he still hasn't eaten. My yellow tang was being a bit of an ass at first but now is leaving him alone. Is there anything that I can do to make his adjustment a little easier?
  24. I will bring the alk up slowly and see if that helps. In the meantime I've got a very rare ivory bali slimer for sale.....$1000.00 Lee- I'll keep you posted on how it goes. All others are doing well. I even had a baby head of the frogspawn break off when I was mounting it so now I have 2 frogspawn frags. I'll let you know if the slimer comes back. Steve
  25. What is the best method if I'm dosing IonicB? Just increase the dose?
