In 1988 set up a tank with fresh live rock sunlit from a window [DUTCH REEF].......then moved on to a 110 with a deep reverse sandbed/ozone and heavy chemical filtration with no water changes this has been an easy successful way to keep reef tanks for over 30 years......I have seen so many people leave its unreal i believe its the belief that you need to do water changes that drives people away......you become a slave to your tanks. -
Need advice - algae and cyno; nitrate 0, phosphate 0.3

I HAVE had massive sand beds in 20 plus tanks for over a 40 year period and dont do water changes or touch my beds. There has never been a trace of red slime except when i tried vodka dosing.Barebottom large water changes are 1 way but so is a nice deep sandbed with ozone and no water changes.Aci doses chemclean regularly it is crazy to me to not use it the second you see red slime. If i had to do water changes i wouldnt have tanks. Its does seem like the sandbed guys like myself are a dying breed. -

Any slime issues can be the mother of all battles they usually need to be nuked once they over run........chemclean always works.Check out the brs guy and his run in with dinos and ozone usage.. been useing ozone in some form since the 80"s it works -

Chemclean with a air stone then carbon then 2 money cowries pretty easy to do.Are you sure you got money cowries they are hard to find.Slime issues will drive people out from reefing its very frustrating i always dose a little ozone on every tank no matter the size it seems to work well. You add it for 15min to a hour leave the house for 2 hours its all gone. -

In my experience a couple of money cowries will take care of hair algae they are really the only thing i have found that work.....cyano is chemclean or doses of ozone if you have a skimmer.......10min of ozone a day on your size tank will do wonders i think most people dont realize how effective it is for dinos or cyano. -
10 years ago i cut my 2 braces off my 150 and replaced them with clear acrylic 3 inch stripes.......no issues yet

Just an fyi i got a large etss for free from a member all i needed were 2 100.00 pumps there are plenty of old spray/beckett/downdrafts around for nothing. A 100 to 200 dollar dc pump and you are set.
-
Any needlewheel pump will work just plug up some holes and run it that way. Save yourself the money. A couple of pvc elbows all that are needed.

emyers[aquabiomic]uses ciprofloxacin at 0.125mg/liter 3 separate doses 3 days apart. You can get this stuff without a script if you look around.

SPS Bacterial Infection help?
ranger replied to smokythemattman@gmail.com's topic in General Discussion
You can follow EMEYER on PMWMAS or r2r as i mentioned before one thing about a bacterial parasite he test for is it only becomes a problem as nitrates rise...He has found 2 out of 20 reef tanks tested to contain the bacteria..............Lots of things in our tank can carry it including aiptasia/palys/goni"s/amemones...etc. Might explain why some SPS tanks can have high nitrates with no problems while others rtn...etc. -

Let us know the results if possible would be great if more coral keepers did this test to verify they are not spreading certain strains to other reefers. -
SPS Bacterial Infection help?

aquabiomics.com.............around 50/100 bucks for a bacterial picture of your water will show some known coral pathagens if present.........he is on R2R lots of info there.......this test is in my opinion the first step then a icp if needed because the known coral bacterial strains that cause these problems will show up on it. -
what fixture do you have.....its pretty easy to test any led fixture ......very simple
