  1. take the hoses off and soak it in a bucket of Vinegar/water. I have never tried it but you could probably just run it on a bucket of vinegar for a couple of hours, not sure what would work best. I give my skimmer a vinegar bath about twice a year, I just clean it off the best I can and leave it soak in 50/50 vinegar/water overnight, pump included then rinse it off and put it back together.
  2. Possibly, I used to run the Sun Sun Canister 265GPH on my 40B and Bio cube and the hoses would get a build up of sponges and stuff every couple of months, I gave up and went with a sump in the end, but I'm sure a good vinegar bath would work, it seems to do the trick for everything else.
  3. just looked at your link, sorry, yes it's a Cobalt MJ not the Marineland, although I own 2 Marineland MJ's (400 and 600) and I dont notice any difference, I use them on Frag tanks in another room so noise isnt an issue there
  4. not sure where or when it was made, I bought it a couple of years ago for a FW tank and it's been sitting in a box for about 3 Yrs, maybe it just went bad, I think Isaac is on the right path with a manifold, I have little to no noise with the DC pumps, it's probably going to work out a lot cheaper than buying a new pump too. I'm not trying to spend money if I dont have to, I'm just not happy with the noise from the MJ
  5. Manifold might work, I am only running my return at 50% so I know it could handle it, I would do another Jebao pump, I'm not sure if I have enough room I have a DC 6000 and a 9000 and they are pretty much the same size so I assumed that the 3000 was also the same size. I will look into the Sicce, I have read some good reviews on them but never used one myself. Thanks for the advice guys
  6. I just unboxed and hooked up my new BRS GFO/Carbon Reactor with a Maxijet 1200, which is what they recommend, but personally I still feel that it is too loud, I run a Jebao DC 9000 and 6000 for my skimmer and return and I cant hear a thing, but ever since I hooked this thing up earlier it has been bugging me. does anyone have any recommendations for a nice silent(ish) pump I could use, not sure if I have room for another Jebao pump in my sump otherwise I would just buy another one of those. Thanks
  7. I figure that I have about 1gal maybe 1.5 PD on my 90, I hook it up to a 30gal trash can if I go away for longer than a couple of days if I had room I would have liked to done 10-15 gal ATO
  8. Thanks Guys, I am starting to have some Hair Algae growth, i'm sure it's due to me being gone a lot and not doing regular W.C and tank maint. I ordered the Dual GFO/Carbon reactor from BRS, should be here today, not sure if it's really necessary with a fuge but I'm sure it wont hurt.
  9. Picked up a couple of new pieces of coral whole visiting the in laws on fl and got a green and red rock nem
  10. looking good man, happy new year
  11. sides are not tempered either on the 40B, not sure about the front and back
  12. I bought 3 Anthias from Marco about 6 -9 months ago, they will eat anything, including flake food
  13. Thank LPS shallow reef tank I think is one of the best looking tanks I have ever seen, if I ever set up a shallow reef tank, don't be surprised if I completely steal your design. Very nice work
  14. Wife got a new car over the weekend, it's going to cost her more than she thinks
  15. I have a 125 in the garage drilled and ready to go, I leave tomorrow for a couple of months, I will make the switch early January, although I will be moving within 12 months so maybe the fun sponge will kill that project before it gets started
  16. Thank god coral is only $10 each otherwise the wife would be most upset with me
  17. It's been 2 years since I made the switch from freshwater to saltwater, I have learned a lot about about the hobby thanks to forums like WAMAS, I enjoy looking back on my initial tank pics and seeing for far things have come, progress is hard to see when you look at the same tank every day, so it's a nice reminder to see how things looked when I started out. Dec 2012
  18. maybe some hard to find clowns, gobies, basslets or anthias, I'm just thinking of smaller fish that would fit in pretty much anyones system ( except anthias) I am not really looking for any more fish, but for those of you that are thinking about purchasing livestock from ERC, I can tell you that so far I have had an awesome experience dealing with them, all but 1 fish in my tank were purchased from ERC to include a healthy and eating Copperband.
  19. yeah, the removal method seems a little drastic, I think it's there to stay lol.
  20. did a quick google search seems it might be a barnacle. not sure but sounds like it
  21. https://vimeo.com/110198781 It looks like it's coming out of one of the mouthes of my torch Never noticed it before It looks like a feather duster and it continuously pops in and out Thanks
  22. project got put on hold until the new year, I was selling off my equipment, due to my work schedule, but I think I have convinced my wife to let me keep it, hope to move to a bigger place in the new year and do the upgrade at that time. hopefully things will calm down next year and I wont have to be away so much.
  23. I have both the D2040's from ERC and and a regular evrergrow that I bought on Ebay, the Ebay fixture is being used on my sump currently and was used on my frag tank before I tore it down, as far as I can tell they are the same quality, however the lighting layout is a little different and the i'm sure that if the Ebay fixture died on me I would be SOL, whereas the ERC fixture would be fixed under the 3yr warranty. they are cheap Chinese lights that do the job, if your going to buy the fixtures with the timer and I would maybe lean to buying from ERC due to the fact that they are quite a bit more money and you have a warranty to fall back on. BLUF I think the fixtures are the same for the most part, the additional cost you pay is most likely for the warranty and customer service from the vendor, which in my opinion is worth every penny. I could be wrong there may be something I dont know
