mine is painted in coraline algae since I got too lazy to scrape it off the back and dont have very long arms. It looks ok

the sand paint looks good. Just remember the BB tank will get coraline spots on it and may mess up the look you are going for

nice tank! yea let the drill do the work little to no pressure and it will go fine if its held in place with a device. Just get a big enough sump and fill it shallow enough so there are absolutely no worries about an overflow crisis.

I would get a second opinion on the test kit. Reef Crystals should be around 1440 ppm or so, at SG 1.0264 so check that also. Are you using one full bag or a half to mix salt? I wonder if during shipping the grains can sort themselfs by mass and size lol. Also clean your test glass vial with vinegar and scrub and retest.

I have had them in a month now. Somehow these little guys do stay out of trouble. They both live in a cave and only come out to clean fish eat or a quick swim. So the flow from my MP40s has not bothered them.

I read on some forum that someone was able to catch most fry, raise 2-3 fry off frozen packaged Rotifer. May be worth a try. Seems too good to be true though

Also the kits are made to test saltwater not fresh tap. So mix the salt first then test good luck love the tank!

BRS RODI has a sink adapter. You are already seeing problems with using tap. It is higher because some of the dried nasties are decomposing off the sand and rock if you have rock in there. Your problem will go away With time. Some call it NTS. This hobby takes a lot of patients

Buy BRS RODI unit with inline TDS before that unit messes something up.
