RW15s Variable Power Supply or RW8s
wildcrazyjoker81 replied to FirstContact's topic in General Discussion
Well be careful on your selection of LPS if you go with the RW15's. I am not sure what you mean about the power supply making it an RW8. I know you can vary the voltage and dull it down yes, but they are different in size and GPH. Jebao RW8 Wireless WaveMaker (185 - 2113 gph) and Jebao RW15 Wireless WaveMaker (317 - 3962 gph). If anything go with the RW15's and if you find out they are too much flow then sell/trade them for RW8's. -

+1 on the bean animal. A nice coast to coast would work well.

My RW15 and WP40 rock my 150G. That is a ton of flow in a 48 inch tank. What are you planning to keep? Sand or bare bottom? -

I am in LOVE....JF Beach Bum Monti
wildcrazyjoker81 replied to DuffyGeos's topic in General Discussion
So my friend was able to use his contacts and found out JF only has one frag left of this beach bum and it is about to hit the street at $699. This coral may stay out of reach for a while sadly. -

Sadly I hit up John via text and he lost his JF Beach Bum, however he is hitting up a few of his friends on R2R who have them finding out what they have. To be continued..... -

I met a guy named John up in White Marsh yesterday who has a frag of this. He has a ton of the high end stuff from JF, WWC, RR, etc. He is not on any forum though. Maybe the same person Justin is referring to. -
I love my RLSS DC12000. It is nice being able to turn it down and up again. Feed mode is nice to. I have heard good things about the sicce syncra pumps too.

Just saw this in person and it is a flawless design and grows chaeto extremely fast. Thanks again for the chaeto you gave me.

+1 on the Exotic Reef Creations (ERC) note. I love the quarantine process they have in place . They can also get fish based upon what you want vice having to settle for what is in stock. (Not saying your LFS store won't do this as well though)

PS4 filter/protein skimmer/uv sterling combo
wildcrazyjoker81 replied to edress714's topic in General Discussion
Seaclone = money wasted. Think more Reef Octopus BH, AquaC Remora Pro/Pro-S, AquaMaxx Hang on Back Series HOB-XC, Bubble Magus BM-NAC5E (I run one on my 55 and it does an okay job), etc. If memory serves DaveS has a very nice Deltec HOB for sale still. That is a heck of a skimmer. It will be like getting a Mercedes for honda pricing. -
+1000 this is great advice

PS4 filter/protein skimmer/uv sterling combo

Never heard of them, but you couldn't pay me to put those in my tank. First suction cups are a lose - lose situation 95% of the time. Most decent pumps these days use magnets. Second your trusting a 10 dollar pump to not destroy hundreds of dollars of sand, rock, fish, corals etc by leaking materials in the water and or breaking. That is risky business right there. If your trying to be a bit more frugal then go for some Koralia pumps. I am sure people on here have some laying around for cheap. -

Pumps is determined by what your housing. If mainly Softies/LPS then a ton of flow is not needed. Maybe one RW8/WP25/MP10, just the opposite with SPS/Acro's. Many people just experiment with what works best for them. I run one WP25 in my 55 Softies/LPS and it does a good job for flow, but does leave a couple of dead zones due to my rock work. -
Great Dame? Is that a cheap shot at Amanda? JK HA HA!

I am literally able to hand feed my entire tank with LRS Reef Frenzy and Herbivore Frenzy. Guess I am just lucky.

Ahem. Back on topic gents! Led's will save you tons of money and the D120's are a great bang for your buck. MH and T5's IMHO are a better total lighting, but replacing bulbs yearly or more adds up fast. So lots of good options.

Are you a paid member?

Perfect excuse for an upgrade too. Just saying lol.

What are the dimensions of the tank? Manufacturer?

I run the 250W Radium with Galaxy ballast and they look pretty blue to me. But then again I haven't tried a 400W so don't have much to compare to. You put in a lot of work for sure and it is a lot of good information. I too am sticking with MH/T5 route over LED's. Just makes more sense as I start to get ramped up more and more on SPS.

If it is the one behind the duncan that is a toadstool leather coral. http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=597+600+753&pcatid=753
