  1. Ken, please give us a full review after you set it up. I am not sure the PAR rating will be adequate.
  2. I'm really excited to put my CS1 together. Is there still a video for this? The threads below refer to it, but I can't seem to find it on the website or YouTube. Only see a vid for the locker. Thanks! http://wamas.org/forums/topic/40215-does-the-avast-cs-1-count-as-diy/?hl=avast http://wamas.org/forums/topic/45757-avast-cs1-sump/?hl=%2Bavast+%2Bvideo&do=findComment&comment=382914

  4. I'm sorry to hear this but thanks for sharing so that others might learn in the event that the cause is discovered.
  5. The reason I stuffed everything into the cabinet is because I very much dislike the thin layer of salt creep/spray that inevitably gets on the electronics when they are in the stand. It tends to get inside the powerstrips and oxidize stuff :( It's a lot of wires because basically everything is behind a closed door in my fish room and it pretty much stays nice and clean. I also read this: http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2141610&highlight=cabinet+electronics Orion had a great solution and put all the electronics in an ottoman next to the tank. Not sure if it's still set up that way.
  6. Welcome. There are a bunch of us north of the DC beltway. Keep in touch!
  7. Happy Thanksgiving to you, too! Thanks for posing the details. I'm curious, I'd like to buy a CS-1, swabbie, and locker. Will the package deal and the Thanksgiving sale both apply? I thought I'd post here since it is a general question.
  8. Indeed. It is what it is.
  9. You came to mind: http://www.weather.com/series/great-outdoors/video/coral-growing-in-unusal-place
  10. Ooh. Nice. I guess it wasn't difficult if it took 5 min
  11. LOL, thanks. So I bought these "extension tubes" that I can add to my prime lenses that change the focal length to basically make a macro lens. It's just figuring out the distance to what place in the tank is a little tricky, but yes, I'm pretty happy I'm getting better.
  12. Got some softies from Matt. Thanks, man! Having fun with my macro extension tubes. Still getting the hang of it.
  13. Thanks for sharing the trials and tribulations we all go through. I have similar stories but mine were interspersed with fits of stomping my feet yelling dammit dammit dammit!
  14. Hi Tommy, hope you like the tank. I tried a single AI Nano over it and the spread of one puck was not enough. I definitely like the idea of the long narrow T5's.
  15. I have the AFS now. I like it. Yeah, it is noisy, but I don't really care about that since it's back behind in the fish room. But before that, I had this: http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=3578+4430+13988&pcatid=13988 And it was very much worth the $16. Unless you really need the integration into the rest of your timing from Apex, not sure the AFS is worth $84 more.
