Silicone II = bad. PVC primer and glue dry very quickly and is able to be used with in minutes under normal conditions. Unless you put them together outside standing in a snow pile. It shouldn't have caused any problem. The way I understand. The big deal with silicone II or any version other than 100% silicone (silicone I) is the anti mildew agents that are used in it. Great for showers but not so much for fish.

How is the pressure at the shower?

Isn't there a pressure switch where the water comes into the house? Mine is at the base of an well pressure tank. It has a 30/50 pressure switch on it. It turns the well pump on at 30lbs and shuts it off at 50lbs. I've adjusted mine to turn off around 60lbs. Not really recommended but it's been that way for years. I get tons of pressure at the RO/DI.

Interested in a breakdown of a float switch made from a GFCI receptacle. Also. Not sure I understand the problem or the difference between overflowing into a cup vs into a bucket vs into a drain. The skimmer is external. Seems like overflowing is overflowing. Not good no matter where it goes. If the skimmer were in the sump. It would overflow back into the sump. Also bad but won't run the tank dry. So why not use the largest container possible with an external unit? At least buys some time to catch it. Like to see that switch PaulB. That sounds cool.

Reef parameters should matter at my local Petco. Westminster MD. They almost always have a few softies in stock. Some nems on occasion too. Their fish livestock however, almost always looks horrible. I was there yesterday and they had an amazing looking firefish and a juvenile flame angel. Both were in super condition. I wanted them badly, but didn't buy them. The tank next to them had one dead and one very much almost dead maroon clowns. The tank above held a very emaciated yellow tang and another tank had a foxface that appeared to drunk. There's always death in those tanks. (At least at this store) very sad.

Piece of cake. Most just snap in. Don't touch anything but the breaker until it's off the panel.

I always do something like this. So, if I know I'm starting a project. I automatically assume that I'll be at Depot or Lowes 3-5 times till I get it all right after changes and revisions. I save all my receipts and packaging religiously. Then....when it's all finished. I always have a nice credit towards the next debacle! Or "project". Key is to keep a box with your favorite retailers name on it. Throw parts and pieces in as you go and then it's easy when you make the next trip to that store. (Especially with plumbing fittings and pieces)

Fitting the tank in my car was genuinely impressive. I bought the tank from SWFFAN (Wamas member) in Baltimore. We still laugh about it. Had to borrow a 14mm to loosen the seat and just sat it forward about 4". Bam! Closed the hatch and Down the road I went. I have also been known to get copious numbers of 2x4x8's in with hatch closed. I really need a truck!

My, and most well water is fine through an RO/DI unit. Only testing will verify without more info. You would need to use an overflow box if drilling isn't an option. I would drill though. It's not that difficult with a steady hand.

Just putting this out there for anyone Helping Wade this Saturday. I was prompted to respond to Wade because I just finished an in wall build and spent more time waiting for help than actually working on it. Very frustrating.
