  1. I rarely use CW though as I have cheaper distributors that only sell to contractors.
  2. FYI, I'm a pool guy and have a commercial account at CW. If anyone needs large quantities or more expensive items let me know. A few feet @ $2.50 a foot won't make much difference though.
  3. I also found this on their website...... http://www.hydor.com/faq#faq49
  4. Per Koralia: ATTENTION KORALIA EVOLUTION OWNERS Hydor has discovered a slight modification is necessary to ensure the proper functioning of some Koralia Evo Pumps. The issue is that some pumps can run backwards over time when used with certain timers and wavemaker devices. The problem can usually be corrected by a simple cleaning of the impeller bushing, bushing o-ring and bushing housing with any safe solvent such as rubbing alcohol. Hydor has a modified bushing and bushing housing available to the consumer at no charge. Please contact Hydor USA at any time for assistance at hydorusa.office@hydor.com.
  5. That's odd. This is very common after power outages when dealing with 3 phase motors but I don't think it should happen with residential stuff. This occurs when the technicians put the main three wires (3 phase) back in a different order. The thing is, our powerheads are single phase motors, and should not be affected. Go check a fan in a bathroom, is it sucking or blowing?
  6. See, everything happens for a reason.
  7. Not to hijack the thread but what do people suggest running if you have a limited amount of juice from your generator? If I ever lost power I'd have to run some refrigerators and maybe some heat, which would leave me with a limited amount of available power. Would you just run heat and flow?
  8. Maybe I caught the wrong salesman. They did mention that they were redoing things, and also said there was a guy who was in charge of the SW section who was out today. Maybe I jumped the gun a little...... I'll check back in a month or so and see how it's doing.
  9. Just stopped in at Today's Pet in Elkridge during my lunch break because I noticed them on our LFS map. I would have to suggest that people don't even bother if they're driving more than 5-10 minutes. They had 3 small frag tanks, but just about every coral was completely overgrown with algae. Lots of dying coral and the prices weren't even good. They had some decent looking Fungia's but weren't priced well. As for their fish, even more was left to be desired. They might have had 10 species, and were H-E-double hockey sticks bent on selling me a Med/Large Powder Blue Tang, even after I told them I only had a 20 gallon aquarium (I actually have a 56g). Anyways, tank maintenance was horrible, and I will not be returning. Searched for a recent post regarding this but hadn't found anything.
  10. I'll take 6, but no green, I'll take an extra rainbow instead of the green.
  11. Thanks for doing this. I apologize for running so quickly after meeting up on Saturday. It was nice meeting you (briefly).
  12. Thanks. I hooked everything up today and the port with the brass fitting had high pressure water coming from it while the other one had only a little. For some reason I couldn't get the first chamber to stop leaking so I need to figure out how to seat it right. This system only came with what you see in the pictures, but I only paid $30 so that's to be expected. Question, why should I see more water coming from the waste side, and where should the waste side run to? I figured it would be a very small amount of water, and I'd just run it to a drain, but that's not the case.
  13. I'm going to hit home depot today to try and get the fittings I need to make my connections. We'll see what happens! Thanks!
  14. I still haven't quite figured it out but here's some pictures to see if they help.
  15. Right now the only tubing connects the filters to the membrane. For my plan I would hook my water supply up the the "IN" line on the filter part, connect filters to membrane, then just run a tube from each of the membrane out lines. I have new filters as well. I am confident that I understand how it works, my issue is that there are two "OUTS" on the right side of the membrane that are not labeled at all. I will post a pic soon.
  16. Thanks, I was able to find this on Marinedepot, however it assumes you are dealing with a new product, with the tubing already in place. http://www.f3images.com/imd/usermanuals/cp1141.pdf I guess what I can do is set it all up but do not connect the tubing coming from the two quick connects on the right, put the tubes in a bucket, and turn on the water. The one that water sprays from will be my RO, and the one that doesn't should be my waste. I am correct with this thinking right? I don't know what the other one could be besides waste.
  17. +1 for joining WAMAS and reading up on peoples experiences. I have had good experiences so far at Aquarium One in Rockville. Also, the deals you can get from fellow members sometimes are incredible.
  18. Does anyone use the Captive Purity PRO RO/RODI unit? If so, I have a question about the install/plumbing. I just bought one used and it came with no hoses, so I'm having trouble figuring out what goes to what. The membrane has three quick connects on it, one on the left, and two on the right. There is also a quick connect on each of the two chambers. I was able to figure out that the single quick connect on the left of the membrane runs to the left chamber, and I figure the untreated water supply runs into the right chamber. After that, I'm lost. One of the two quick connects coming off the right side of the membrane has a pressure gauge on it. Any help?
  19. I'm not sure what the wamas member consensus is on this method but I tied off a raw shrimp from the grocery store and let it float for a couple days which got my Ammonia up quick. My nitrites quickly kicked in after that, followed by my nitrates. My cycle completed in 2 weeks but then again, I had 60 lbs of cured live rock.
  20. Will post...... but not until my new lights come in
  21. nem is doing awesome! Eating well and looks great. Traded for a couple frags today too, adding a PPE single polyp and a birdsnest. Both opened almost immediately and seem to be doing great. Fingers crossed!
  22. Checked the levels again this morning and things are perfect. Even dropped my phosphates down to zero (I guess chemi-pure elite does it's job). Picked up two younger clowns and a pink tipped anemone. We'll see how things worked out. Thanks for all the responses Tracy.
  23. Maybe they meant the other way around? Having the contractor get the permit while they did the work?
  24. How big of a tank are you talking about? I would think that as long as you aren't removing any actual structural beams then you'd be fine without a permit. There's a big difference between a structural wall and one that isn't. Not really sure about a contractor for that work. Good luck!
  25. Yep. No sump. I checked my levels again and my Nitrates have come down a bit. Still 0 and 0 for Ammonia and Nitrites. I'm really thinking that the LR and LS has allowed me to cycle in 2 weeks. I'll probably head over to either Aquarium One or Congressional tomorrow to pick up a pair of clowns. Thanks! Edit: Forgot to mention that I did a 20% WC after taking my readings.....
