  1. Got a preview pic. Hope it is here within the next 3 weeks
  2. I will take pics tonight. Tank is done being built, but it was built in Asia. Will be on a container next Monday, and arrive at SC Aquariums warehouse in 3-4 weeks. Hoping to have this tank around 9/12.
  3. I've gotten lazy. Basically all the rocks have been glued down, I just need to start working on covering the black foam and get it cycling. I hope to start on the stand within the next two weeks. The NanoBox DUO is with Dave getting repainted all white and having white LED's installed. Looking forward to seeing how LED will grow the mangroves
  4. Another foam can is being delivered today, should be able to finish up the scape tonight and start cycling it.
  5. Yup. I don't think floating will be a problem, I haven't used much. Most of it is super glue and epoxy, just used the black foam to fill in some areas. The biggest spot with the foam is on that ramp in the back. I have to seal that off so none of the sand goes under the rest of the eggcrate and fills the cave with sand. I was thinking of putting a few rocks under the ramp anyway, so I don't have to use ton's of sand to fill in that area. I can't go to glass beach anymore, pisses me off. People sitting on the beach filling bags and containers with glass when you aren't allowed to take it. I will say they could increase the signage to try and stop this. You would only know you couldn't take the glass if you read it on the internet, or one of the general information signs when you first get to the park. But there are no signs around the stairs down to the beach.
  6. Thanks! I had to order more of the black foam stuff, so I am hoping I can get this rock scape done by the weekend, and then get this thing soaking in some hydrogen peroxide to clean it up. Tank building is starting today The bed and breakfast was in Mendocino and the lighthouse is Point Arena. The lighthouse was used for the final scene in the Need for Speed movie.
  7. It's usually used for outdoor ponds, I've used it before and works real well. Thanks! I could never put this in the tank with any black showing lol.
  8. Progress. Don't worry about all the black, that will be taken care of at the end Wanted to do more but spent the weekend on the coast
  9. I think this is the most excited I have been for a build. The yellow macro is Eucheuma. Unfortunately it doesn't stay yellow, it will turn red eventually. Macros are from live-plants
  10. Thanks! The long green leaves is turtle grass. Here is a preview of the scape. It will have a valley that is 12x5x6" and a large cave. I will be making a thread tonight and taking better pictures of the egg crate. Lighting by 24" nanbox hybrid and a nanobox duo with a white LED array for the mangroves and macros.
  11. Thank you. Live-plants Thanks! I'm combining this tank with my mixed reef tank. Hopefully Monday I put in an order for either a 48x18x12, 48x18x14, or 40x18x18. I won't be able to put a lion fish in there, but the tank will take 7-8 weeks, so maybe I'll buy a lion and then give it back to the lfs. I put the plans for the new tank a couple posts ago. Can't wait.
  12. Yes sir. Been dumping a lot of rods food in too.
  13. Think this is now my favorite tank I have done
  14. I will take better pictures tonight once the sun goes down. Mangrove Macro Tank by Brad Baldwin, on Flickr My wife and I planned out the stand for a 48x18x?" tank this morning. Going to do mangrove in the corner, with the large slopping hill. The hill will basically be a 24" macro meadow slopping down to a mixed reef. The mixed reef will be all individual islands. Probably one large island with a bunch of smaller ones around it. Just gotta decide on the height.
  15. Holy macro's. They bounced around USPS post offices for a few days, but finally arrived. Gonna be a busy night.
  16. If you don't want to buy a camera, you can try this http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2356487&highlight=camera+gel+filter
  17. I would make some type of support for that overflow box. I remember seeing Isaac's and couldn't believe the amount of bend the box had.
  18. Here is a link to the hybrid thread: http://www.nano-reef.com/topic/357361-nano-box-hybrid-pricing-pictures-info/ Just as a heads-up, Dave gives me all these lights for free, but I can honestly say they're worth it and the best lights I've seen. His v3 LED puck array is an amazing color combo. There are a good amount of reviews on nano-reef. Just be aware that it does take a little time since Dave handmakes these.
  19. I believe it is $1000 for the version I have, 2t5's and 4 led pucks. Dave uses the nano-reef forum to keep everyone up to date and has pricing. I know he's looking into creating a better website.
  20. The new pieces of dragons breath with the orange tips are insane. Looking forward to the big shipment tomorrow. That should fill the tank and now let me focus on the mixed reef tank.
