  1. i dont really mess with stuff inside the tank. even if a frag falls over i just let it be. messing with the equipment and plumbing is something i constantly do.
  2. i seen both good and bad petco saltwater sections. just depends on who is managing it.
  3. it lasts forever. look for the ones that are unseasoned and dried. its been a while since i last fed the tangs nori. i would soak it with garlic extract. i read garlic prevents ick on tangs and the tangs like it more with the garlic.
  4. i am using 3/4 return hoses which goes into my tank. the water will go through a check valve before it goes into the display. three valves are 3/4 in as well with 5/8 nipples attached. if you are going this route i suggest you put a valve to control the amount of water going to the display in order to force water to go to the reactors and skimmers.
  5. sump? may be able to use the sump as a frag tank?
  6. sweet, ill have to check their site to see if they have an upgrade kit.
  7. that is strange. you probably can put a float valve on the end of the feed tube as well to prevent overfilling if the lines break.
  8. mines failed after the recent move. it would keep adding water to the sump past the full line. what had happened was there was a hole on the airline on the sensor. if one replaces the tube every couple of years, it should not fail.
  9. you didnt like the kessils?
  10. you probably need to glue the bottom plates together to get a good seal. the pipes may need to be glued together as well.
  11. what are u going to do with those overflows? are you planning on using one of those reactors as a biopellet reactor? im thinking about purchasing a avast reactor and the biopellet nozzle since the pellets in the tlf reactor stopped tumbling like when new. kinda pointless if you cant shake off the excess bacteria right?

  13. no leaks. i dont use clamps on tight fittings, use zip ties for hoses located under water/over water and metal ones for hoses that i think might leak in the future. i did notice a loss of gph by using the manifold, but using v instead of t and not using the check valve may be more efficient. the dc pump you chose should be able to work with the manifold. you can zip tie all the hoses just to be on the safe side.
  14. clear? like clear coat for cars?
  15. captain america and deployment govie bob are suppose to be there to protect my tank from future terrorist attacks in my tank (unwanted blennies, aiptasias, bubble algaes, parasites). we will see how that turns out. p.s. the blennie made it through the move as well. i guess he was hiding in the rock during the move and managed to survive.
  16. BRK sells better manifolds than what i am currently using.
  17. i have one pump running my whole tank through a manifold. everything is connected to the manifold with vinyl tubing. i find myself now needing a valve on the line after the manifold in order to get more flow to the reactors/uv. water is currently traveling in the path with the least amount of resistance.
  18. loving the avast theme. i may go that route for my next build as well. wish they made controllers and maybe a quality magnetic veggie clip. looking good. what brand are you using for the trim? i may end up doing the same thing with mines.
  19. aiptasia are actually growing on top of my zoas. after talking to the local fish store workers, i think i will be getting a aiptasia eating filefish. they are easy to feed and a lot hardier than the copperband. aiptasia after eating a large piece of flake food. aiptasia eating flake food. starfish split. good sign? inside my sump before the move. took the picture through the top of the avast cs1 skimmer collection cover. even using that, there were just too many micro bubbles coming down from the overflow to get a decent shot with this tablet. i pretty much made the drain side of the sump into a refugium by adding a bunch of live rocks. moving day. had to gut everything out from under the stand in order to move it because it was only me and my wife moving it. she is def. a keeper. i always thought she hated the fish tanks in the house, but after this move realized my whole family loves it as much as i do. they now even feed the fish for me when i am away. tank in the new home. almost complete. brave! it was small pieces of zoa that floated away from the rocks after the move. wrasse did not make it *tears* . it did not survive the acclimation process. maybe it got too stressed out during the two hour drive in my car without ac. guess it wasnt meant to be. uummm, how do i set this thing up again? finally added a chiller so hopefully that means no more fatalities. *fingers crossed* new jebao dc6000. more powerful than the eheim 1262, but because i am running everything my my system through this pump, more valves may be needed to make everything work together.
