  7. haha, mines is the same. thinking about just using a shower curtain as a door and calling it a day.
  8. not too impressed with the tank and im sure the guy in the blue shirt from the picture agrees.
  9. because i will most likely only be able to keep zoas for the next several years i did a lot of reading on zoas and while reading i always come across people who brought their zoas back to health by dosing vitamin c. i am not in a position where my zoas are half dead. they are all doing great, all open and starting to color up nicely possibly from the combination of natural sunlight/kessil light and natural sea water but i am not sure. dosing vitamin c from what i read will make the zoas grow a lot faster and color up so i dont see any negatives for me to try it. also my fish is currently going through medical issues. at first i thought it was ick because i seen white dots on both clown fishes. the white dots were mostly on the fins and towards the gill areas. i turned on my uv sterilizer and waited to see if the fish can fight it off on its own. as time went by, the white dots got bigger looking like giant pimples and i dont see typical scraping on rocks, flashing, heavy breathing from the fishes that i typically saw from my freshwater fishes. also the hippo tang in my tank did not have any white dots on it. upon more research, it may be a kind of virus. i was hoping the vitamin c would also help build the immune system of the fish in my system and prevent future diseases.
  10. thinking about dosing magnesium ascorbate powder and looking for any input. setup 75 gallon tank 20 gallon sump just ordered a avast cs1 skimmer currently using biopellet 2 kessil a150 2 mp10 set on nutrient export mode weekly water change 28 gallon (natural seawater) would dosing help my current setup or would i not benefit from it at all?
  11. ya, that is true, love to see a light that actually look like it was made for a tank. the legs from the picture looks like it could be flipped around. would be nice if they make a hanging kit that you can hook up to the edge of the tank like the kessil 350s, 150s. pretty excited to see the final product.
  12. i dont know many people here, but i will ask the local store to see if they will carry it.

    Jeff's Nano!

    wheres the update?
  14. didnt really work for me with my freshwater tank. i am not sure why but the fish dont grow as fast without regular water changes in my experience. maybe water changes takes some of the unwanted bacteria out as well?
  15. wow, a 4 ft light would look nice over my tank. im hoping it can sit on top of the tank than be hung from the ceiling.
  16. any chance for me to find it at the lfs here in oahu in the near future?
  17. wish they sold jans food locally here
  18. it is the type i use and works for me.
  19. i used an aqualifter pump in the beginning as well, but it started failing. within a years time i had 2 out of 3 fail.
  20. installed a brs auto topoff pump. with the failure rate of the aqualifters, this seems to be the best option. after running my biopellets, i noticed my skimmer producing a lot of bubbles which dont pop. i ended up having to clean the collection cup daily, sometimes twice a day. algae scrubber after about a week. already see algae growing on it. still not sure how well this will work.

  24. i bought it from a local. it looks like local hawaiian stuff which typically have bigger polyps than what i was used to seeing back in d.c. they all look like they have adjusted quite nicely. i added about 20 saltwater opae to the display as part of my cleaning crew. will see how they do.
