  1. Ryan, What do you mean by "rinse a little longer". I do rinse it to get the brown color out, but does rinsing it for a longer period of time help it to work better?
  2. In comparison to the regular GFO. So if the regular GFO lasts for a month, would the high capacity last for two?
  3. How long does the high capacity work for? The phosban worked for about a month and I had to change it this evening.
  4. I need to change the GFO in my reactor. I was using Phosban. Should I stick with it, or switch to BRS GFO, or even BRS High capacity GFO? Thanks for the suggestions in advance.
  5. I think you are the one who bought my ecopico a few weeks ago..hope everything is coming along well...PM me anytime and I'd be glad to help you with that tank. No need for a skimmer, just do a 1 gallon water change every week and it will work out well. I rarely ever got algae in that tank. Never saw any cyano either. The 1 gallon water changes were basically 30% per week because with the rock there was only a little under 4 gallons of water that could be in there. The little hang on back filter worked well too. Just be sure to cut out some filter floss and change that every week.
  6. When I first started I had a 14 gallon biocube with just PC lights. I put in a single head frogspawn as my first coral. Now that same frogspawn, almost 2 years later, is in my 60 gallon with many heads. They are cool looking and really easy corals. I'm sure you get one from someone on this website for no more than 15-20 bucks. Just my 2cents.
  7. Now that's an introduction! Love the in-wall system. When my wife forces me to move to a bigger house I am going to use an in-wall system as a bargaining chip.
  8. Yea I've gotten some from aquarium one too
  9. I've got a Deep blue 24 x 24 cube. Cost me $299 brand new at aquarium one. I like it. Corner overflow. Front panel is starphire glass.
  10. This is a good question. I'm having similar issues but only with ALK. Seems my calcium remains stable but my ALK drops about 5 ppm per day. Does ALK drop just from evaporation?
  11. Yes it is for the 60g but with sump it is almost 80 gallons of water and BRS only recommends the one I have for 75. Since I'm going mostly SPS I want it ultra clean. I may just stick with it for a few months and upgrade both my sump and skimmer.
  12. That is a very generous offer. Avast emailed me back and the skimmer is almost 400 bucks if they build it for you. There are only two problems....#1 is that they won't be in stock until around Christmas....#2 is they need a 9 x 10 in space to fit in the sump. That is exactly how much room I have so I think it might be too tight of a squeeze but I do really appreciate the offer.
  13. Thanks, I'll do that after Avast emails me back.
  14. I've heard great things but I don't have 2 hours to build it. I'll contact them to see if they will. Thanks
  15. Looking to get a new skimmer for a total volume of water of 80 gallons. The one I have now is just a tad underpowered for that. Looking for in sump that can fit in a space no larger than 9 x 10 inches. I would rather key in on quality over value. Im considering the reef octopus xs diablo 160. Thanks
  16. Anthias are great looking fish....can you keep just one? I've read they do best in groups. I really don't want to add more than one fish to the tank. I want to keep it fish light but coral heavy.
  17. this would be the last fish I put in the tank...forgot to mention that
  18. The color is incredible and I'd love to put one in my tank but I've heard they are complete bullies. Anyone got any experience on them? I have a 60 gallon with 2 clowns, 1 6-line wrasse, 1 chromis, 1 yellow watchman goby, and one clown goby. Tank is VERY peaceful other than the clowns scaring the chromis every now and then.
  19. I love my tiny yellow clown goby. When i first put him n the tank my yellow watchman goby literally had it in its mouth because he got too close. The ywg immediately spit him out and began opening and closing his mouth rapidly for a few minutes. The clown goby has a protective slime that apparently tastes horrible as a defense mechanism. Now he (all 3/4 inch of him) rules the tank. No one not even the clownfish 5 times bigger messes with him. He perches on coral but i haven't seen any tissue damage. Live aquaria does say that they lay eggs on acro that causes some tissue damage.
  20. Whoops.....just read you have a conch. Give him some time....he will munch on it
  21. Buy a conch. Ate that red blanket right up. Quantum reefs had them.
