  5. So is someone in WAMAS making batches of 2-part now and giving it away at cost as a good samariton? Was going to order my first ever batch (vre most likely) but just saw this thread
  6. I've got a 4x39 rig on my 46bow.....2 x b+, C+, and p+. I like the current look of mine though I've considered swapping the C+ for an actinic white....just wasn't sure of par changes. I like the current look of yours as well though. WhY corals/colors did you want to POP more? What order are your bulbs in? Ohand check out jstln's tank ....former totm
  7. yeah, use a gate valve with a splitter like you were slowing a sump return pump going to your display (routing extra back into sump/reservoir)...then use Doug's T diagram on the line with the reduced/gated flow. or, buy lower-head-rated top-off pump
  8. I have one modded....a big filter still means a small Fuge even for the footprint it takes on the back of the tank. I'm not even running mine right now. How much do you want to put in it?
  9. Bringing this thread back to life.... Did anyone stick with this doser and how has it fared for you?? I think they sell them via both eBay and their store now....seems a fairly reasonable price to automate dosing (which I'm yet to do) http://www.marinemagic-online.com/products.html
  10. You could get this acrylic sheets from Lowes and drill holes....attaching similarly. Or you could use one acrylic sheet as a window....just drill a few holes for the zip ties to attach to the existing box.
  11. Nice work....put that $ elsewhere Where exactly did you get the plastic fabric?
  12. haha - this sounds soooooo familiar
  13. Look in the section with all the other fittings in plumbing....the wall with small parts in little baggies.
  14. Neil, any traces of ammonia or nitrite showing up? Maybe there are other stressors in the water that the fish are dealing with and the scratching is their outlet???
  15. I think I've heard the sicce do better than some other pumps (ie koralia, or newer mjs) with short cycles...but I'm not that familiar. I'm obviously leaning towards a longer cycle time....so I'd say don't shorten what you have already. You'll get random flow as the currents change with each switch in pumps...I don't think you need constant switching or anything like that...but get yourself a 2nd and 3rd opinion...you'll feel better however you decide Anyone else?
  16. maybe this helps, or maybe it raises more questions for you...but... I have a 46 bow. I decided to keep flow/pumps pretty simple and get a 'gyre' going. that is, my live rock has plenty of space behind it and my powerheads provide laminar flow from each bottom back corner (where placed) towards the top in the opposite back corner and hook around my rocks to the bowed front. i only run one pump at a time (other than a return pump), so my water swirls in one direction at a time....the 'gyre'. my plan is to alternate the current in each direction every few hours with the change in direction providing some randomization in addition to what I get off the rock. unfortunately, i haven't sprung for a controller to alternate the pumps just yet and i change which pump is running by hand ever day or two just to keep things interesting for my fish etc. for your current set up, what do you see in flow patterns now? if it's pretty random etc, the extra wear on your pumps with more frequent on/off cycles may just shorten their life without any/much benefit to your inhabitants - 2 cents
  17. Haha, I surely enjoyed my candy when I ordered. Would recommend glass-holes...easy peazy
  18. neil, nice meeting you at frag fest. cool set up here! really dig your yasha....is it pretty outgoing? you make me think about starting a tank thread...i think i still have a few pics from when i drilled it too. but, following along here to see what *you* do
