1. I saw the new bubble magus curve skimmers as I'm shopping for my cube build. Anything new and exciting out there that is <$250, for a 150g capacity or can i assume that i'm on the right track?
2. Maritime Plastics in Annapolis might, but I thought they closed. I'll give it a shot! Thanks for the info.
3. So my 24 stand has water damage where the tank meets the stand. Im trying to avoid fabricating a new one. a quick google search didn't yield any results. Anyone have an idea where I might be able to find one?
4. Lighting, lighting, lighting. All I can say.
5. If you're making a box out of the fabric I think there will be seams, or attachment locations with holes/weak points.
6. There is such a thing as overthinking it. If you're worried about poisoning yourself, I'm fairly certain garage floor epoxy isn't going to "off gas"... Think about what might be if your significant other didnt keep you as a result of your off-gassing.....
7. You're not going to fiberglass something inside your house either, so who cares about a temporary smell in a garage or outside on a sunny day.. For my landscaping clients that are too cheap to replace their old rotten wood deck, there is an epoxy polymer product available at HD/lowes. It's in paint.
8. Redgard all the way. VERY important. Do it right the first time. Pay now, or pay later. Use mastic. Durock/hardee is what you want. Its a wet environment, you'll want to take a wet sponge and wipe the salt off the walls, etc. Just watch a YouTube video for how to lay wall tile. And ask the guy in hd/lowes which trowel youll need based on the tile you chose. And post before and after with pics of each completed step! Good luck!
9. Funny, the whitespots came on those color-lost areas a couple days later. must have been what you described. He was in rough shape last night and I gave him another dip; his breathing is not as hard, the white spots everywhere are now minimal, did a QT water change to lessen the parasitic load, and am about to hookup the UV sterilizer to circulate. Classic case of getting it under control, so thanks to all. I'll upload some pics of it shortly.very hard to see of course, but i'll give it a shot.
10. I might be missing something, but i gave my idol a freshwater dip when i saw he had some white spots on his black body. When I pulled him, i noticed the spots weren't cystic as much as they appeared to be more like a loss of color. He's in QT now, but i am hoping to identify what the issue is here.
11. awesome-thanks Ryan! Which one is the mr5-3.5"?
12. Im using a 700 gph pump T'd off into a Biopellet reactor and GFO reactor inside the sump.
13. Okay, i'm kind of over cleaning my sponges every couple weeks on the GFO. I want to use the mesh that works for the biopellets. Suggestions on stoping this? i'm currently running the BRS GFO and its the really fine stuff, slightly bigger than coffee grounds. The GFO isnt clogging, it's detritus.
14. Immediately dip them though-that was what just brought these three back from the dead-they were on their side.
15. Put the fish in a 4-5 min RODI dip, paying attention to them zonking out on their side. This will burst and help clear the gills so he can at least breathe. Then, put them in QT. personally I am keeping them in 1.015 and copper. Get a copper test kit and keep the copper where it needs to be-consistent wanted changes are important. I also run a UV sterilizer with the recommended size pump as insurance. Big UV, little tank. I just brought three back from the dead this way so it's working for me.
16. John, can you post pics and price of the Pink Setosa you have? I'm looking for a good-sized piece with vibrant color.

skimmers?

Wow I have the same skimmer, the same problem, and I was looking at new skimmers. Ive been told that all the nano skimmers are sensitive to water height, so it is important to have an ATO and then your skimmer should operate much more consistently. I still haven't been able to dial in my sapphire aquatics but I'm pulling the trigger on a new ATO since chad won the raffle (boooo!) this weekend. Haha jk. I've read the aquamaxx hob is another good one. I am looking for the tunze also but if I can grab an impeller I'll keep working with the sapphire aquatics.
18. Thanks Chad. I read it briefly, but didn't see that bottomline amount. Thanks for the reply Fishman! i want the option to keep SPS. makes no sense to build one of these and limit myself to LPS. 5 questions- 1)I see you switched from meanwells to HLGs. Any reason? 2)define a "few" less LEDs 3) explain why you like the neutral white-are those white white, or more in the lower K range? 3a) WHy xm-L for white-is it the greater efficiency? 4) why XT-E for royal blue?
19. Great info on the lenses. I'm eager to hear some final numbers. Also I've seen the aqua sol LEDs and they were cool-$400 each.
20.

Yah I saw those but I'm hearing how they aren't good blue spectrum..plus I want dimmable..
