  1. Is the Herbie similiar to the Durso standpipe?
  2. Keep him provided that you can keep him corraled somewhere. I bet that can eat detritus like a champ, but I wouldn't want him around my display tank when he got hungry.
  3. There are adapters that allow you to hook up to various faucets and hoses. Myself personally I wouldn't and have never bought seawater from the store. A 250 gallon bucket of salt is about $50 or so and that comes out pretty cheap per gallon. At a later time, you may also consider setting up an ATO for your tank and the RODI would be invaluable for that. Lots of different things to think about, but you came to the right place and you are asking the right questions. Good luck!
  4. There are little acrylic traps that you can purchase on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/LARGE-ACRYLIC-FISH-TRAP-REEF-AQUARIUM-FISH-TROPICAL-/270693409836?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3f0695a42c
  5. I wasn't looking the Rockville area. As a fairly recent entrant here I automatically associated it with being downtown. Ya know, your friendly neighborhood reef shop where the Senators stop in on their lunch break to browse the acros
  6. Oh, for some reason I was thinking that they were downtown. Thanks!
  7. Where are they located? I didn't see them on the LFS map
  8. Nano tanks can be really fun but the margin of error is a lot smaller. A slightly larger tank (55 gallon maybe) could be a little easier until you get your training wheels off. People were right, this is an expensive hobby and I'm sure that everyone that has commented can tell you some money saving tips. Welcome to Wamas! Where knowledge (and sometimes frags) are free!
  9. I came across this store in manassas through a manufacturer's website. Does anyone have any input about them?
  10. http://www.reed-mariculture.com/mysidshrimp/ This has information regarding the salinity and it seems that it could be adjusted to a reef tank. Even if it was the occasional snack for my fish, it seems like it could be pretty awesome.
  11. That's what I was thinking as well. But then thoughts of a thriving mysis population in my refugium got me thinking about options. One thing that I would not want would be to decimate the other populations that are already there. Think it would be worth a try?
  12. I came across a website today at reed-mariculture.com and found that they have live mysid shrimp for sale. It seemed a bit expensive for a daily feeder, but has anyone had a successfuly refugium with mysis? The website states that they live on zooplankton but will turn cannabilistic if there is not enough food. I'm sure amphipods and copepods could fit the bill as well. Has anyone tried this?
  13. Richard, thanks a ton for the great deals. I got the sump home and got it into the house and just put it together with my tanks and whatnot. It's been great dealing with you over the last few weeks and I wish you luck in your travels. Take care!
  14. I'm just starting to learn about LED's. What is a bin?
  15. Chad, the next time I build something I'm having you over for beer and pizza!
  16. Nice! Anytime that you want to frag let me know!
  17. Just another way to cut costs and keep the name.
