  1. Finally started on my new tank after almost a year. Have it placed in my house and have it plumbed to the basement. Initial rockwork started on and am building my sump. Here are some pics. http://s782.photobucket.com/user/gwweber/library/#/user/gwweber/library/Tankshots/Deep%20Dimension%20150%20build?sort=4&page=1&_suid=139541442628505063902228857602 Had issues with noise in the walls form the amount of water flowing down the pipes but that is addressed and is quiet now. Will add more pics as I get the sump finished and done. Using a 125 gallon long tank as a sump. Will have a deep sand bed and lots fuge area. It will be running off my old sump for a while till my sand bed starts working. Have a ASM G4++ skimmer. Also will add my calcium reactor. Lots of work to be done. Trying to add my existing tanks to the system this weekend, To the tang police here you all will be glad that my tangs will finally be able to swim free LOL. Have a 90 gallon tank that has been holding all my corals and fish from old cube and a 50 gallon that will be combined.
  2. my stepson had a red sea max explode at the seams one day just like that front seam split
  3. you will need a truck and a trailer
  4. I really think that these anemones were sold as rbta and are not. This is why everone has trouble getting them to bubble. I have two tanks with two new bubbletips in them and they have bubbles, but the other anemones have been in my tanks for several years and dont buble.
  5. I have at least 10 of the large non bubble red anemones in a friends tank. The complete rockwork in the front of his tank is wall to wall ,here is a pic on one of mine http://s782.photobucket.com/user/gwweber/media/IMG_3319.jpg.html?sort=3&o=8#/user/gwweber/media/IMG_3319.jpg.html?sort=3&o=8&_suid=136587819134406634985717242201
  6. pretty funny the small rbta that i got is already bubbling and he is just open a very little
  7. traded a few supposed rbta for several know bubbly anemones. Will think i know the real answer after this weekend however one is beautiful almost florescent yellow bubbler, looks sweet under a lot of blue..
  8. For three or four years I have been cultivating some rather great looking anemones. They were bought from a member in the woodbridge area. They get huge, 1 foot across and are increadable specimuns. They were sold to me as a bubble tip anemine. The one thing I have never seen then do in any of the numerus tanks they have been in is to bubble up. They split like crazy, get huge, have been grown under all types of lights and current conditions in many different tanks and none have bubbled. Is part of the problem that we are having in this area due to fact that everyone thinks these anemones, which are being passed around by our membership as RBTA are actually ritiri anemonies. I looked on google search and there are a number of picture of these anemones that lool just like mine. Perhaps this is part of the reason that everone is asking how come the rbta anemone they have looks great, but wont bubble? I am going to give a friend of mine, who has two real wonderous dinnerplate size RBTA's in his tank one of mine to see if it will bubble in the tank with his two huge bubbles.
  9. I have three small rbta in my 50 gallon LOL. They dont bubble either SIGH
  10. I have a huge rbta with maroon clowns hosting. He eats anyting is healthy (as far as I can tell) but i can not get him to bubble up. Lots of light and a good current in the tank. Any ideas?
  11. Well everyone, with the finish of my new house it is finally time for a new tank. I purchased a 150 deep dimension with stand and top. Am placing the tank in my sitting room upstairs and am plumbing the tank into the basement for all the maint and filtration needs. Have a 150 long tank i am going to use for the sump and have a ASM G4 plus (the one with the sedra 15000 in it) am using a vertex illumina 360 24 inch for lighting. Already have the fixture furned way down and on my smaller cube Light was too expensive, but i really love the colors. It is a led that has the look of a metal halide sort of. Also has neat features. I had a taotronics light on the cube, worked really nice till it burned up in 6 months. Funny about how they offer a 2 year warrenty but wont fix the light TAO TRONICS BEWARE cheap light, i have several but am now very leary of the brand. Well Will start taking pictures of the build and post em when I can. Been cycling the new rock in a 50 gal tank, funny how the little fish in that tank have no swimming room with 100 lbs of marco rock in it. Well i figure ill have about 150 lbs of rock, 60 of that will be 4 years old or older, and about 130 gallons of cured water to start the new 150 with. Opinions wanted on how much sump I should start with, i was going to start with a 40 gal sump and start the 150 sump up and get it running for a while before it gets merged with the main tank. THat way the new tank will only get a small amount of fresh water in the system when it is moved.
  12. he is going in my new 150 one more month kinda funny cant remember the last time i lost a fish. Btw he is a lot happier now then when he was in the 30 gal tank at the shop. I know his size issues and am dealing with them. I also knew that the tang police would be on my case. NO problem. His longitude constraints are being delt with very soon. I also say that he has gone from not eating to nori (large sheets) and even flakes both of which he takes out of my fingers. Also the yellow tang is very small and the cole is a large medium and are not too big for the tank, The tank is a 64gal cube, and there are large passages in the reef they play in. I also think that the size issue exists and everyone is being helpfull. THANKS SERIOUS APPRECIATE IT and in fact i would be on the same page with you guys (and gals) if I saw the video was conderned for the fish. My tank has been on autopilot for almost a year and I am really looming forward to my new build, just mont county has had its way with us on our new house build and I still can not start my new tank up.\ i am using a 150 gal tank for the sump on my new 150. It is a 6 foot tank. I am going to use a large ASM skimmer stiing in a 40 gallon tank that is going to be a rock baffel for better words. Any suggestions on how i should baffle my sump would be helpfull.
  13. LOL Some pics of my cube. Getting ready to move in a month or so, so it will never be the same. And yes i know that tang is too big, rest assured, he is very happy atm. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=io-JpLeoZuA
  14. What she did not say in her post was that the tank was started with 70% water from a well established tank and she used live sand and seeded the complete system with a canister filter. I would say she cheated the start up process as everything in the tank is thriving with very low nitrates, trites and no phosphates. SO Get off the bandwagon of the tank being too new, it is up and running well already. However, she is really looking for a couple of frags as the ones i gave her are shrooms and pallys and are all very happy. NOTE, i see criticism but nothing constructive included.
  15. any way to use a recirculating skimmer. Do you have a sump?
  16. I purchased one of these for my 29 gallon tank. My corals are growing like crazy and I like the colors. Two of those on a 60 gallon tank would be cheap and easy. They are dimmable and run on two cords so you can have the blue come on at diffeent times then the white. I am very happy with this fixture. http://www.ebay.com/itm/281042249979?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
  17. it is about 12 feet up and about 30 feet over.
  18. Am moving and setting up a new tank. It is a deep dimension 150 will be on the main floor of the house. Had several extra joists put across living room for this purpose. Will have a 150 gal sump fuge in the basement. Am in Boyds Maryland. Any suggestions helpfull. Need to buy a pump will need 600 gph at the output at one story. What do i use for input into the sump.
  19. i had this problem turned out the bushings in the powerheads were causing this. Talked to the manufacturer and they sent me new bushings
  20. Serious issue here. I have this huge (in the middle) lawn mower blenny and i am guessing she needs a mate. Thought he was a he. To be honest, she is almost as big around as a ping pong ball. Im guessing eggs. Anyone breed these fish? I fear for the wellbeing of this fish it is so fat. LOL very happy though
  21. They are going to a bigger home, I may have to sell my black clowns because if not I will have CLOWN WARS. The Clown police will be on my butt then i guess
  22. BTW When was the last time i lost a fish HMMMMMMM--------- THe naso will be in his new home soon. He is quite happy atm all puppydogish and eating out of my fingers. I feel bad for him too, but his situation will change as soon as I get the rock cycled for his new tank. But ill tell you all what, if i dont get my new tank up in a month and a half ill sell him to someone with a larger tank.
