  1. Looks great. Makes me wish I would have painted up my stand before I put everything together.
  2. A photo update of my tank's current status. Reaqauscaped a bit, with the help of my Dad, to give more room for corals - I'm quickly running out of room on the rock and the sand. Also, the tank is now lit by 3 Maxspect P Series lights.
  3. I built my stand for my 30" cube with 2x4's, glued and screwed it together. When completed it looked / felt like it'd hold up to anything. It's built basically like ybenormal's picture above shows. I still don't have a skin on my stand - if you'd like to stop by to see what it looks like or how it's built you're more than welcome.
  4. Cool idea for a thread. I'll be spending WAY too much time searching out corals I haven't seen before.
  5. That's a handy one to keep around.
  6. Because if the "when you get a chance" is hours away or one were to forget about it, the waster water is still flowing with nothing being produced since it's cut off at the float.
  7. Take a look at the video link in the product link to BRS that Ron (onux20) posted. It was helpful to me to understand how to fully cut off waterflow from the RO system. Video Link
  8. Thanks Steve... BTW, you're not allowed to buy that 400 watt fixture!!! lol
  9. If you like the regular sailfin, take a look at the Desjardini.
  10. Just lost my first repsonse... I've always had a Kole Tang in my tanks. They always seem to be active swimmers and are out and about the tank. The one I have now likes to chase my Coral Beauty around a lot although he doesn't bat an eye at my Two Bar Rabbit Fish. I think they have a "fun" personality
  11. The dancing ghosty guy just makes it.
  12. Try a hack saw too.
  13. Got my numbers in! My son had a ball checking out the koi
  14. Wow, never seen one with that much blue before - awsome fish!
  15. Silicone will fail. More than likely you just don't have the bulkhead tightened enough. I'd take them apart and make sure you didn't roll a gasket or something too. Otherwise put a tool on them and snug them up. Not too tight - don't want to crack your glass!
  16. I've used tubes of this stuff to help hold rocks together and to mount corals as well. I don't know if it's really salt water safe or not, but I've been using it for 10+ years without any noticable ill effects. For mounting frags, I'll put a little superglue on the frag plug, then some of the epoxy, then some superglue on the epoxy. That hole mess gets shoved onto the rock I want to coral mounted to and it sticks right away. I'd think it'd work well for your purposes. Good luck.
  17. Looks nice. Definately need something to keep the 'nems from the frags. A couple RBTA's I have occaissionally like to take a walk and wipe my frags out.
  18. Cast iron or ductile iron? I'm not sure how much either one is affected by saltwater running through it, but they certainly have all kinds of other nasty, dirty stuff running through them when used for sanitary pipe. The quote is from This Site. I don't recall if cast iron pipe was coated regularly or not. Personally, I wouldn't worry about it. And I'm not! My house has a cast iron line going out to the main and I've been pumping my water changes down the drain without issue so far - only a year. I'm sure a tree root will cause a problem before my saltwater.
  19. Still there this time Andy. Looking good!
  20. Doesn't show up for me. Get an error message: "This content is currently unavailableThe page you requested cannot be displayed right now. It may be temporarily unavailable, the link you clicked on may have expired, or you may not have permission to view this page."
  21. In an old canopy I used to use, the "reflector" was just a flat piece of sheet metal. I simply screwed it directly to the top of the canopy and never had any issues with it. I always ran fans in the hood to help move heat out of the canopy. Here's a picture of it:
  22. I've looked at them a lot. Along with the Radions. Haven't made up my mind which way I want to go yet. Or even if I want to just fall back to MH and let the LED technology develope more. How long have you been running them? What critters are you keeping with them? Do you have any progress photos? I'd love to know what your experience is with them.
  23. I'll second the hobby store recomendation. Any hobby shop should have all kinds of Cyanoacrylate from water thin to booger thick
  24. When I was at Dr. Macs for the social a couple months ago I recall seeing a new copy on the shelves there. Give them a shout.
  25. This is just too cool. Very nice!
