  1. Big Al's has it for $21.99 http://www.bigalsonline.com/edealinv/servlet/ExecMacro?nurl=control/StoreItem.vm&siId=1383088&catParentID=18579&scId=18579&ctl_nbr=3684&utm_source=Froogle&utm_campaign=FroogleUSA+Datafeed&utm_medium=Comparison+Shopping&CAWELAID=388705437
  2. You could get in on the LED group buy that is going on now. Jason plans on ordering in the next couple of weeks. There has been talk of doing a group build afterward.
  3. I thought that it was about finding ways to eliminate pesky ex-wives.
  4. I'm kind of thinking that heaters ought to be considered a disposable item, like bulbs. If we can change our smoke alarm batteries when we change our clocks, we out to be able to change our tank heaters when we change out bulbs.
  5. I've had great results from all of the Hydor products that I've used. I've run Hydor's AquaClear HOB filters for years on my FW tanks and have never had any kind of problems (even without maintenance).
  6. I'm sure that you're excited! Get some pics up as soon as you can.
  7. Forrest, I'd only use my ex-wife if I were CERTAIN that there was lots of current in my tank.
  8. You could get your wife/girlfriend/children/neighbor to put his hand in the tank.
  9. I have Zoos hanging out with a brain coral. I guess the only thing that I can think of off the top of my head that absolutely can't co-exist is polys and SteveOutlaw.
  10. I'm going to have to agree here. Put your frag tank lower than your DT and use it like a sump. You could still filter like you are now, just plumb using an overflow (on the display) and an external pump (from the frag tank). Of course, you would have to drill your frag tank for an external pump, but you could get your heater and skimmer out of your main display. BTW, a 5 gallon ATO reservoir is a great size. I had the return tubing come out of my sump (thankfully, it was almost time to refill the reservoir) and pumped about 2 gallons on the floor. :( This also taught the value of having RO/DI water on hand.
  11. One of the things that I thought about was that the pump is going to generate heat anyway, so why not use it to augment my tank heater (that is in the sump)? The heater is on a thermostat, so it won't come on unless more heat is needed.
  12. They also make good bait for tautog.
  13. Next time that you cut your finger, take the time to look at your blood.
  14. Is it one of the USB microscopes?
  15. This makes me glad that I went with the aquahub float switches and AquaLifter pump solution. I know that it's not fancy, but it does the trick. I have to admit that I did learn the important lesson of keeping RO/DI water made up ahead when the fill tube somehow came out of the tank and I ATOed all over the carpet.
  16. There are other good things too. You don't have to feed it, it NEVER needs to be topped off, and SteveOutlaw isn't going to make stew from the palys.
  17. I'm using Koralia 4 and a Koralia 5. They seem to be doing great.
  18. What I would do is run the cables through an outdoor grade electrical junction box. One of the problems that you'll find is that most of the connectors that you'll find aren't big enough to accommodate the plug end, so you'll have to go big (like 1 1/2 inch) and I doubt that Lowe's or Home Depot sells anything that size. You may want to try Dominion Electric Supply on Cherry Hill Rd in Laurel. Basically, you mount the box on the outside of your stand, and run the cables through a connector (you should be able to get a rubber lined connector) in the side (not the top or the bottom, because that would cause water to accumulate inside the box) and out a connector in the back of the box. You will have drilled a hole in the stand to fit the connector. I would paint the box to match the stand.
  19. John, you can get a brand new one from MicroCenter (right down the road from you on Nutley Street) for about $20 (if it's SATA) or $30 (if it's the older IDE).
  20. I'll have to check when I get home. I have the boxes sitting on my coffee table.
  21. I'm using a pair of Koralia power heads (different sizes) in my 55 and I'm pleased as punch.
  22. I just added it to the list of things that I've slept through. Of the natural disasters, I've slept through tornadoes, hurricanes (three of them), major thunderstorms and now an earthquake. Not mention a noisy upstairs neighbor, my ex-wife yelling at me, the noise of the ship when I was in the Coast Guard, my sister's very loud voice and many many other things. I sometimes believe that I could sleep through a Matalica concert.
  23. According to http://www.cichlid-forum.com/articles/diy_acrylic.php, they suggest:
  24. You could go with something like this: http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/items/3HJN6 It is a bit heavy duty, it's made for attic fans.
  25. Mathematics is not a crime. In military basic training, one of the things that they teach you (the hard way) is to make good decisions in less than comfortable conditions. This is a great lesson, whether you're a ER nurse, classroom teacher, or a waste water treatment worker. That said, if you really know something well, you still know it whether it's 107 degrees or something less.
