  1. Huh, well thats outta my league, hopefully one of the website gurus will see this and know whats going on, if not send them a PM
  2. Also, do you want an email notification? There are several options you can set to get notifications by email.
  3. Do you see the topics listed after you click on the TOPICS tab? Mine stays on the FORUM tab as default, once I clicked the topics tab I see all the topics I am watching.
  4. testing is key, just keep checking your ammonia and nitrite levels, wait till they stay at 0 and you are good to go. If you have alot of livestock that you are moving over I would move it slowly if possible, giving the bioload a chance to stabilize.
  5. I have a .22 rifle, a .22 ruger pistol and about 500 rounds of ammo if anyone wants to do some experimenting lol. Haven't been shooting in awhile.
  6. I was going to ask the same thing, the one Piper had for sale made me think of David's fish.
  7. sometimes the water can channel through the resin, which could be a reason for the color not evenly changing. Ive also heard a few people say that the resin will actually go through 2 color changes. It will change some at first, but as it gets used more the color change becomes more apparent.
  8. With last month's topic I wanted to have everyone work on their photography skills trying to take an accruate representaion of what you see in your tanks. This month I wanted to continue to expand the skills of taking good photos, As I consider POTM to be a a good place to practice and share your photography skills. This Month's Topic will be .... Macro Photography. For those that may not know what Macro Photography is, it is close-up photography of usually very small subjects, where the subject is usually life size or larger on the image. This works perfectly for our tanks, as some of the most interesting things in our tanks are the small-tiny things that you dont see until you stare at your tank for hours on end. Your photo can be of anything, something interesting growing in your tank, polyp extension of your corals, or a fish poking its head out of a crevice in the rockwork, or a macro photo of macro algae. GUIDELINES Submissions must be made by March 23 Photo size: At least 800 x 600 ONE submission per person. To be included in the voting, your submission must also have the following information: Submitters: Name, BBName Location: where it's taken (who's tank, ocean, etc) Camera Used: (if not available please say unknown) Subject: (what title/picture name/picture of)
  9. Very Nice, I like the caps as well. How big is the tank and how big are the caps? They look huge, do you ever trim them back from blocking the light for stuff below?
  10. Here's a link to AWI that states how long their DI resin should last, Its not very long at all. Their vertical cartridge will handle about 6800 ppm total, it doesnt take very long to take that up. http://www.airwaterice.com/category/z.2/
  11. Congratulations to forrealb50, this month's POTM Winner. Thanks to all that participated and voted in the poll this month.
  12. The plan was to add 2 100 watt eheim jager heaters. I should have my fuge online within a week or so. With the controller would I be better off using one heater, or 2 undersized heaters?
  13. Almost to 40...... HAVE YOU VOTED YET????? Last time I'll beg, unless we get close to 50, then all bets are off.
  14. Dont worry Doug, I already have plans for Cell Phone Picture of the Month, and Worst Picture Of the Month.
  15. Yes, its a clear glass heater. Its an Aqueon 200 watt submersible heater, honestly I dont have a clue how it works, I just know I had never seen this before and it freaked me out a bit. Are you saying this could be normal? It flashed for a good 10 seconds maybe before it stopped and the heater went off.
  16. Pulled the heater out today. I gave a pretty good look, but didnt notice any burn or scorch marks. Im starting to wonder if I was imagining things last night. I was planning on replacing the heater with 2 smaller ones once I get my fuge set up.
  17. Voting ends tonight (monday) at midnight. Would like to get to 40 votes at least
  18. Just a few minutes ago something caught my eye in my tank in my bedroom. I saw a few flashes of white light coming from the heater, my heater light is orange so I know it wast that. My next thought was that it was a reflection from the tv, turn the tv off and still saw a few flashes. So I hopped out of bed to take a closer look, by the time I was next to the tank I only saw the flashes for a second or two. The flashes were coming from the top of were the coils are, and looked to be small electrical arcs. The heater then cycled off(orange light when out at least) and the flashes stopped. So I unplugged the heater, took it out and replaced it with one I used for water changes. I dont have a volt meter to check to see if its leaking voltage into the water, My hand was in the tank only a few hours ago so no harm there. Im wondering if I should just toss it, or test it and if ok use it for water changes?
  19. DONE???? You're never done. "Done" = tinkering, tweaking, rearranging, upgrading......
  20. Yay, begging for votes does work!!!!! Voting closes monday night at midnight,so I'll probably beg for more votes tomorrow. I like doing POTM, I just wish I could get more people involved. New topic will be up on Tuesday.
  21. Great Pics, thanks for sharing. How many sharks were there? looks like about 5 in the one pic, that would have probably freaked me out too. One or two isnt bad, but a group starts to get scary.
  22. February 2011 POTM Please Vote As of now we only have 17 total votes, and thats over the course of a week. At the time I am writing this there are 60 members online. All it takes is a few minutes and clicks of your mouse.
  23. David I wanted to really bad, but it was 20 minutes after 8 by the time I left the other place in Alexandria, then I thought about what you said about your wife and the open house today, I thought better then to come over late at nite after a long day, for my sake and yours lol. I'll have to take you up on the offer some other time, also let me know about the clowns if they still fall through.
  24. JUST WALKED IN THE DOOR!!!!!!! FINALLY Great day, very happy to help out, It turned out very well for everyone. I just hope I dont pass out before I acclimate the corals I picked up today after moving the tanks.
  25. Dave, you might also want to think about stuff we should bring to help transport. I have a few 5 gallon buckets(some with lids), a 20 gallon brute, and a bunch of those cheap storage totes.
