  1. something tells me that you will be waiting for a long time....
  2. It's hard to say...really just depends on the amout of die off you have. I would just watch it for a week, if you dont have any ammonia spike your likely good to go. Just test it. My guess is that you'll see a very, very small "cycle"
  3. Welcome. This is a great resource, but I can tell you that the $20 I spent to become a real member was the best $20 I have EVER spent on this hobby. The deals you find are amazing! It's really a great community of people who really just want to help other hobbist. The cool thing is that after you get some freebies, great deals you really want to pass the same freebies and deals onto other people.
  4. Don't know...my water is inluded in my HOA!
  5. till he decides to do the 101 mods you can find online...
  6. Thats not a bad setup and would be a good hospital tank in the future.. That being said, I would still look for a used RO/DI unit, just makes things easier and you will use it in the future..
  7. Do yourself a couple favors... Buy some nice live rock, you only need a 10-15 pounds worth... Buy a RO/DI unit, you can get one used for a decent amount... If you want inverts, that copper in the water wont help.... with only 10 gallons, water quality is important.... Go cheap now and you'll spend way more in the long run....
  8. I needed to buff up my clean up crew... I bought another package from Jim... For $30 bucks I got... 10 Nassarius Snails 10 Turbos Snails 10 Blue Hermits 1 Peppermint Shrimp This is the second time I have bought stuff from Jim and the livestock has been great. Bottom line is that you cant beat the guys prices. If you are worried about him because he's on craigslist, don't. I also bought a bottle of his copepods/tiger pods. I have seen these bottles in other stores and you can barely see them in the bottle. These things were HUGE and there were tons of them. It was a nice addition to my newly setup fuge! Anyway, just thought I'd share since some were wary.
  9. Thats too bad.. One suggestion in the future that has worked for me... When I have a fish that stops eating, I try to yank them out of the tank and put them in a QT. For some reason and it could just be me, but fish tend to eat better in the smaller QT with nothing in it. Whether that would have helped, who knows really. Again, this is just my experience.... Sorry for your loss, it always sucks to lose a fish expecially such a cool one like that!
  10. I went to his townhouse. I want to say its in countryside. He was a real nice guy and everything I got from him was nice. Great prices too!
  11. I use one...just to test my ro/di unit...
  12. poor shrimp....he would have lived a nice long life in my tank....
  13. When I got my fist tank the guy before was just using tap water... When I upgrade to my 90g, I bought an RO/DI unit. There was certainly less algae growth. To me it's certainly worth the money to ensure that your putting quality water in your tank.. Plus maybe one day you will want to add some mushrooms, zoas etc...
