I dont have much experience ... but they are jumpers, so you should probably have a nice lid on the tank

I have a NEP fixture which is 6x 54w t5's ... I want to upgrade to 250w mh's ... first of all, is it worth the extra money to upgrade?

Did you end up ordering? How were they?

Hey everybody, I appreciate all of the responses, I recieved a mag 9.5 to borrow from a very generoud member, and my fingers are crossed everything will stay happy for a few days until I get back. Thanks again!

Thanks, I appreciate the quick response ... You get that instant freak out, especially since Im not going to be here, and my roommate really know, except to put food. Any suggestions as to what pump I should go with to replace it?

Hey Guys, Im heading out of town tonight, and of course right on cue, my return pump failed on me, and I dont have anything to replace it with. Will my tank survive until Thursday when I get back without any water movement outside of my three koralia 3's that are in the tank? IF not, could anyone in the Bethesda area help me out tonight/tomorrow? I am currently running a quiet one 3000, I have a 75 gallon tank with a 20 gallon sump directly under it with mostly softies as well as a few sps and t5 lighting ... Ill be back in town Thursday. Any ideas? Thanks in advance guys. -Mitch

Hey Guys, I just started looking over at reef central, and Ive seen postings for "rasta zoas" and I am definitly interested in trying to get some. They seem to only be out on the west coast, is there a reason for this? do they go by another name? Does anyone have any locally? Whats the deal? Thanks. -Mitch

I have a blue damsel that is doing the exact same thing .... he is burrowing out right underneath a rock, I was worried he was going to collapse the rock on himself, so I moved the sand back in, and low and behold he was back at it the next day ... Im not too worried about it, as long as he doesnt collapse the aquascaping
-
Alright, time to go on the lookout for some sps's ... ive basically been sitting with softies and zoas, scared that other stuff wouldnt grow

is free not an option? if not, I like the idea of cut to order

I had one as my very first tank inhabitant before I picked up any corals and he was really cool, darting around much like a six line, and he certainly stirred up the sand a pretty decent ammount, but as guys stated before, I could never get him to eat either by direct feeding or leaving food around for him, and he ended up dieing (im assuming by starvation) after about two or three months in the tank ...If you can get them to eat, they are incredibly interesting creatures, though you have to keep a low flow in the tank because they cant really right themselves very well if they get blown over onto their backs ... jsut fyi

Actually theres a pair that hosts in the torch ... it was the first coral I put in the tank and the clowns took right to it
-
Well I dont know if I would go as far as saying its a problem yet, but since I upgraded my lighting to t-5's ive been having detritus build up. Whether its realted to the lighting or not, I have been looking in to possibly solutions and have upgraded my crab and snail population, specifically blue-legged and nassarus snails, and have been looking into possibly adding copepods ... any thoughts?

Ok Mr. Coral it is ... thanks for the input guys, i appreciate it. -Mitch

Hey Guys, I have a day off tomorrow, and was looking at heading to LFS I havent been to before ... I live in Bethesda, and am pretty much on the lookout for a good store with some cool corals, and good deals ... any suggestions??
-
Will do, and thanks everyone for their responses I need all the help I can get
-
They actually have made a nice home in my torch, but ive now recently spotted them investigating my hammer a little, so Im thknking maybe its from that ... they continue to eat well and are seemingly swimming happily so im not too worried as of now

I came home from an extended vacation and everything in the tank looks great ... except my pair of false percs both have a collection of black dots on the top half of their bodies, maybe a half dozen a piece. My camera is terrible and I cant really capture it, but they are relativly small dots, spread out pretty well ... any ideas?

Ive been looking around loosely, where can i fish 80w t5 bulbs? do most lfs's keep them?
-
I actually found that if I keep my hand balled up in a fist right up until I grab whatever I need to, the fish will not attack my fist, only individual fingers, or the webbing as most of you have said ... I have a pair of maroon clowns and its always the one fish, the smaller one thats attacking, can i assume thats the male or female, is one more aggresive than the other?
-
So, I dont know whether this is normal or not, but today I was rearranging some rock, and when i went to move a rock that has my RBTA on it, my maroon clowns started attacking my hand ... it didnt hurt at all, but they were ramming my hand left and right, and even as I moved on to other rocks, the one little guy followed my hand trying to bully it all over the tank ... I mean I know I wouldnt want someone moving my home, but is this normal?

Funny this thread popped up, I just got stung tonight, but mine is just a small bump, not really swollen at all ... it happened a few hours ago and I ran hot water on it, and its pretty much unnoticeable.

Just to piggy back, I have an anemone that was doing pretty well under my 65w 10K bulbs and 2, but I recently upgraded to t-5's and my anemone has taken a turn, and basically is hiding in one of my live rocks, and just today I noticed his base is blowing a bubble of sorts ... this is the best picture i could get of it, any suggestions?
