If you're constantly buying distilled, you will probably reach the point where it would've been cheaper just to get a little RO system. I got mine from someone on this board upgrading theirs - it's just a little 35 gallon-per-day unit, but it was very cheap and is very effective. Using IO salt is akin to being a slumlord to some people, but I'm not a salt snob - I use it in mine, and I haven't had any problems with LPS, softies, or zoas.

Ok... I don't mean to rub salt in the wound, but you may have prevented this if you had used your QT. I'm sure hindsight is 20/20.

If you don't have a QT tank or follow a rigorous QT regimen, now would be the perfect time to start. EDIT: Where did you get this tang, anyway?

Our vendors have saved my butt in this hobby. Johnny & Byron at BRK sold me my very first protein skimmer, and when AquaCo opened less than a mile from where I work, I started going in there for advice. Without a doubt, I can say my tank is where it is today because of the world-class proprietors we have in the DC area.

I was out in SLC a few weeks ago and noticed they were building a Five Guys there. If you haven't tried it, try it while you're out here. In fact, even if you did try it there, try it here, because dining in Utah sucks

I Stumbled this yesterday... honestly, I thought it was BS.

Yep. I bought a whole bunch of the half-sheets, only to realize that I hated trying to roll sushi with the half-sheets - now my tang eats it. I cut it into postage-stamp-sized squares, make small incomplete cuts that go about a quarter of the way through the bottom of the square, and put them on a veggie clip. The cuts help the tang to get the pieces off in 'ribbons', so he eats more of it (as opposed to getting a huge chunk and just spitting it out), and the veggie clip stays in place (less effort required to get a piece off).

This is the stuff nightmares are made of.

PETA is an excellent example of eagerly paving the road to H-E-double hockey sticks with good intentions. I guess any virtue can be corrupted if you're nutty enough about it.

I have two tiger-banded sea stars that the previous owner of my tank let me have. They've been really awesome... except for the one random time that one climbed the glass and stuck a leg in the maxi-mod. They're mostly nocturnal, but usually hang out just underneath my rock overhangs, so I can show them off to guests.

Tim, My PE Mysis is really big... did you chop yours up? My clowns won't even touch PE, because it's so darn big.
