  1. I don't think Bob is addicted to this hobby at all Nice set up Bob.....I'm just jealous of all that room.
  2. wow...what happened to the hair....jk Thats a good read, I like the thought on fish oil. Maybe I'll start feeding my fish, fish from the grocery store....I can just hear my wife now.....you're doing what? feeding your tank salmon. Thanks for the link Highland.
  3. Sorry Mike if I gave you the wrong impression, I wasn't implying anything by my post, other than what the thread started off with. I have spent a lot of time at sea and around the sea and I just did a poor job of communicating that. We all try to recreate what nature provides us, whatever it is we are trying to recreate. I guess my badly stated point was, we can never really recreate what nature has created.
  4. lol...yea, check this out, man was I in the dog house....plus I had to fix it....just what I wanted, more house work.
  5. Oh yes, they are bad, just take the right steps to protect your tank....take your time and don't rush it. Remeber, nothing good happens fast in this hobby.
  6. My tank is nothing like the sea.....and I'm thankful.......The animals I have are feed, they are healthy and I really enjoy watching my tank grow.
  7. 10-4, I would just hate to see something go really bad because something was over looked.
  8. I always wonder if thats what they really look like?? It would be nice if they would tell you what lighting was used while taking the picture.
  9. I've read they work and read they don't. But I have a sand bed in my display tank thats from 2" to 3" and a RDSB that 8"x8"x8". My nitrates are low, less than .2ppm but I don't know if thats from the RDSB or what, I just thought I would give it a try and see what happens. It's only been up and running since 7-19-09, so I would guess that the RDSB hasn't had a chance to really get going yet.
  10. Those pipes going from your tank to the sump. Are they 1" going into 1 1/4" elbows & Tees? If I was plumbing it, I would change those to 1"x 1-1/2" It just seems with that much water moving, better safe than sorry. just my .02 but the build is coming along nicely.
  11. You really should have that service replaced. Even when dry, if it were megger tested, it would show up bad. Last year, my building had a flood in the main switch gear room and a 1200amp service got wet. Even when it was dry, it was showing up bad. Good luck
  12. I wonder after the first water spill/leak.......will she still have that smile I know my wife stopped smiling after she saw water coming through the kitchen ceiling.......lol.......now she just threatens me...... Get pics, can't wait to see more.
  13. They haven't really looked at it yet or taken much intrest with it.....I'm hoping they do....but time will tell.
  14. Today was a good day...I finally added a RBTA to the tank and it's about 3".
  15. Looks like the tank is coming along nicely and great job with removing the algae. I dig that pic with the clown hanging over that small anomie.
  16. That is so cool, I realy like the depth the 2' tank gives. My dream tank is a 180.....6' x 2' x 2'
  17. Very Nice!!! only if I could have a large tank
  18. Thats cool when the fish feed from your fingers like that, my clowns do the same thing.
  19. Thanks, I have no idea what they are, I picked them up at Exotic Aquatics and they have the names written on the glass, but if I don't write it down, I'll never remember them. I'm sure I'll be back up there soon and if they still have them, I'll write the names down.
  20. Thanks Tyler, I started a new job about 3 months ago and I have been busy starting up a new building in DC. As things settle down, I'll have more free time to play.
