  6. That is just so wrong on many levels....but it made me laugh
  7. What brand of Mag. test does he use?
  8. I'm using Salifert for testing Mag. Thanks for the advice everyone. I take it slow with my system as far as adding live stock and the tank is still in it's eary stages. Started up in late December. I'm not worried about the rate that I'm going through Mag, it's was just something I noticed while keeping track of my parameters and dosing. Since I'm so new to this hobby, I was just wondering if anyone else's tanks go through more Mag as well. But as far as my water, I take readings about a day or two after a water change, which is done every month.
  9. I was just wondering if anyone else's tanks goes through (or absorbs) more magnesium than other additive like Calcium and Alkalinity. My tank is not heavily stock by any means, mostly soft coral, and every time I take readings, I'm adding way more Mag. than anything else.
  10. I don't know about you, but it looks to me like someone wants to go for a swim. This was my Red Tail Boa back when I lived in California. I gave her to a reptile rescue when I left Ca. because no stores could resale her due to her size. She was 6'5" when I left Ca.
  11. Tank is looking great. What was the Chemi-clean used for?
  12. Hey Jason whats happening? Target feeding phytoplex and mysis....nubee question, what's is that stuff?
  13. what kind of flow do you have over them?
  14. No, it's cool, I don't take it as bashing but I do ammonia testing.
  15. That's the one test I don''t have. I move the ric from the top of the tank to the bottom and middle. Hilary, you think by moving it closer to a stronger water source that might help it ??
  16. I have this little orange/green ric and it's not growing. I can see all my other corals slowing growing but this little ric almost seems to be getting smaller. All my water readings are good and I have moved the ric around the tank....any ideas anyone?
  17. Hey Doug, It is under pressure, 45 psi when the valve is closed. I've had one accident already from over flowing and don't need another. (The wife will string me up by my b***s if it happens again) Can you further explain why? In the mean time I will keep a close eye on it. Thanks for the warning.
  18. I bought this float several months ago, but have been trying to figure how to mount it. So last night I was fiddling around with some extra fittings and came up with this....and it works....how cool. I just have to fine tune the float to where I want the water level.

  22. It's been awhile, but it looks like I'm winning the war on hair algae. I've been doing many water changes and keeping a close eye on my water readings. I also just ordered the dual GFO/caron reactor from BRS.....(I got a little play money this last week and my wife doesn't get any ), so....cha ching......reactor time. Also I'm getting a 4 channel digi time clock to control all my lighting which will be in about 2 - 3 weeks. Overall, I'm very happy with the tanks progress and have been slowly adding small frags. Much of my sucess comes from many WAMAS members with there constructive input. Thank You. I just added a watchman goby tonight, I hope this one makes it This was take a week ago

  24. I was curious on how your remote deep sand bed was performing with reducing your nitrates?
  25. aww, fun you make of my home, Dagobah my home is. This pic was taken tonight and you can see the hair algae is starting to recede. Every night I clean the tank and remove as much algae as possible. I think the sea hair has started to make a difference too, as there is a patch of algae missing on one of the rocks. I have done several water changes at roughly 12 gallons each and the last phosphate test showed 0 ppm. I'm thinking of getting more hermit crabs this weekend and possibly a Blue Hippo Tang. I've spoken to some members and read up on that many of the Tangs love to eat algae.
