Cyno can always be caused by low flow or no flow .... other reasons vary.

Centerville aquariums also sells water mixed its lower in salt though... hes relized ppl make mistakes if he has it 1.025... I got some bad water one time.. but for 2 years of the hobby I used them!

hmmmm chlroine is a gas chloramine is a liquid we use it at my plant.. chlorine gas is extremly bad..atleast until its mixed... I'm very confused about this debate.. I run a 5 stage system I have 3 filters in it and 2 resin filters. I was wondering. IF your not growing sps would this still affect you a little amonia won't kill fish or hardier corals will it?

Take the culerpa out of your 28... I had a nano die to culerpa grape culerpa killed my nano. You can't get a fish big enough to control the culerpa and its worse then pulling weeds grows twice as fast and will choke out corals

One word of caution I had hair algee so I took one of the smaller piece of live rock out and soaked it in lightless tapwater for 5 days.... its not green with some kind of colonizing algee all the rocks that were left in the tank are pink or purple with coralin....anyway the algee was caused from some ro/di water I purchased from a fish store.. oddly enough I havn't had problems with this fish store in 5 years... anyway I got my ro/di up and running again and its almost gone... my tank has finally cycled ... don't want to give people the wrong idea it was better to go slow, but I wanted to see how fast I could go ... 4-5 weeks old and the tank is perfect will post pictures friday

Thats a great thing your doing... Make sure you pick up the maintence and DEFENTLY DON'T LET HIM GO IN THE TANK... it may not be obvious but chemo theropy and radiation ruin your immune system. A fish tank full of live rock/corals. Would be like giving a pocket knife to a toddler...I'd be weary even with gloves... As for the maintence make sure the tank has an auto top off and timers with a big resvour that way you don't have to fill it every day he probably won't be able to lift the bucket of water.. feeding shouldn't be a problem... tell him to wear nitrile gloves. Anyway my mother had it too... She is a survivor I hope the same for your dad!
