  1. My kalk stirrer was set up thru my auto top off. I had just changed the kalk powder a week ago so it was strong water that was put in the tank. I believe the float switch came off the side glass so it just kept pumping. Sean
  2. Well I dont know how it happened this time but I walked downstairs last night around 2 am to get a drink and my 75 g tank was cloudy with kalk. I've been through this before but I guess it was to much this time. Everything is dying. Some corals have already bleached while some are in the process. My 2 clown fish seem ok but the rest of the fish havent been coming out of the rock unless they are dead in there. We are looking at buying a house in the next month or two so i was going to have to break everything down. We had planned on buying a larger tank once we are settled but at this point i dont know. The tank stinks to high heaven, there is slim on all the corals and from reading posts I just can sit here and wait. This has been the hardest hobby I have ever been in... I'll be selling everything once the tank settles down. I'm done. Sean
  3. I love my Litermeter III. Can do other things as well. Little pricy but worth every penny. Could try and find a used one as well. http://www.spectrapure.com/St_prec_p0.htm Sean
  4. I would like to send condolences from my family to your. Sean
  5. My 2 cents I bought my upgraded Ushio and fluorescent bulbs from BRK a while ago. When I got home, I noticed one of the flourescent bulbs were broke. He replaced it... no fuss. Prices are competitive and the customer service it top notch. The quality of the bulbs he recommended have unbelieveable color spectrums. Sean
  6. Good morning, This morning the water has cleared up considerably. There is a thin layer of kalk pretty much everywhere in the tank. I still have my kalk stirrer/top off system off for the moment. Nothing seemed to be showing any ill effects as of this morning. Even my sun coral was in full bloom. Thank you everyone for helping out. I kinda felt like I would have paniced if I did not have such good support knowing I would get sound advice. Sean
  7. I just checked the PH and it was off the chart (8.8). After doing alot of reading, a bunch of ppl said not to go crazy with water changes, I also turned the lights off. If I had to guess I would say that about 1-1.5 gallons was pumped in the tank. I turned off my pump controller and was going to just manually top off the sump using regular RO/DI water. I can not see in the tank at all so I cant tell what the fish are doing. Sean
  8. Good evening everyone, So yesterday I changed the kalk powder in my GSA kalk stirrer. I turned the pump off so it didnt pump the cloudy water into the tank. Well I forgot to turn it on this morning so when I saw how low the water in the sump (25 gallon) was I remembered to turn it back on. Well... it must have disturbed the bottom turning the pump on. My display (75 gallon) tank is so cloudy with kalk you cant see in it at all. I just did a 5 gallon water change. Currently I'm making more Ro/DI water and plan to do a 10 gallon water change tomorrow night. I have some Chemi-pure elite. Should I use it? Are all my coral and fish gonna die???? Sean

  16. If I had to do it all over again ( hopefully I do soon) I would not of purchased my Sebae for my 75 gallon. When i first got him he was bleach white and about the size of a softball. Today he is healthy with light green tentacles with purple tips. When he is fully extended he is much bigger than a basketball. To big for my 75 gallon, I think. I do like the fact that he stays put. He only moves 3-4 inches left or right depending on how close I put back the Tunze after cleaning it. Cheers, Sean
  17. Very nice. Great pictures! Cheers, Sean
  18. I am just getting over a ich break out. I used a combination of Kick Ich, UV, lots and lots of garlic and selcom, water changes, turning my skimmer off while treating and prayers! Good luck ! Cheers, Sean
  19. Hello, I have a hard rubber trash can as my reservoir. My Litermeter 3 pumps about a gallon and a half of water thru my GSA kalk stirrer. Works great! Cheers, Sean
  20. Mark came over my place today to give me some advice about my electric setup. He couldnt be a more cool, down to earth person. Of course we talked each others ears off about various fish tales and spent 10 minutes about the electric stuff. Thanks again Mark for coming over. Cheers, Sean
  21. Hello, I sent you a PM. I have a friend that works for a company that prevents this sorta thing from happening. Cheers, Sean
  22. I also have a 75 gallon (with 29 gallon refugium) that reaches 80.8 to mid 81 during the day with 2 150 MH on. I have a fan blowing over the top of the water in the display tank but it doesnt do much. Should I get a chiller jsut to make the water more stable? Sorry i dont mean to hijack your thread. Cheers, Sean
