- are they coming out of return or out of powerhead / stream? - are they some of your microbubbles from the chiponator 5000 skimmer making their way into sump and over to return area? - Leftover effect of clam spawn? - sump water level lower than normal? Maybe return is sucking air

If you can make meeting next week, bring water. We will have volunteers testing water for free. Or look at profiles and see if anyone is close to you and pm to see if they have salifert kit or other testing to verify your results.

Your salinity level is ? (1.02_ ) tank is stocked with ... sps will use a lot of alk / calcium.

What you can do - I do / in process of adding top off switch - is put the toilet type float mentioned above in side wall of sump if acrylic - about 8 -10 inches from bottom (low enough so that whey tank shuts off from power out, sump will take all water from tank) (but also high enough so pump does not suck air) Then have electronic top off swich in sump near water level wanted. The solenoid that comes with top off kit will open line to allow your ro unit to top off water. The electronic switch will shut off solenoid and water entering system once electronic float switch reaches full position.. Purpose of float, safety - if electronic fails to shut off, the float will shut line and can hold the pressure of the ro unit (I have used a float for 5 years never failed to shut off) Also, the purpose of electronic float is to allow sump to drop about 1 inch before opening up solenoid and letting ro unit run. My problem now, why I'm adding electronic switch, is I'm only using manual float and hydrolic and the hydrolic will kick on and off a lot and they say will reduce life of ro membrane from brine creep with short on off cycles. Electronic lets ro unit run longer -- a good thing and stay off longer b/w cycles - good thing for less membrane creep. Hope it helps hubby since you have this all down cold

I have what I tried to describe - brute can on wheels with float valve and hydrolic shut off. If he wants to see it, you are welcome to come over or I can try to take pic this weekend and email it to you. something like $25 for can, maybe more for a 44g, I have 32. $15 or less for float; few bucks for silicone sealant, and another $25 or so if you buy brute wheels or you can make own with wheels and wood. Lowes & most home depot have brutes. As for putting in living space - there are remote top off controls that you can run up to 100 feet away so maybe you can put it in basement and have 1/4 tube go through floor to tank. Aqual fx been good to me, but you can also see options here: http://www.spectrapure.com/St_alc_p1.htm at spectrapure

You talking about this? http://www.aquariumwaterfilters.com/index....p&Itemid=28 You can get rubbermaid brute trash can and one of their auto shutoff floats ($15) and drill 9/16 hole in top side of brute for the float. Add aquarium sealant around float valve hole for extra protection. You may also need to add on Hydraulic Automatic Shut Off to ro unit to shut off rodi once float shuts valve and pressure builds to shut of Hydraulic Automatic Shut Off valve. Both float and Hydraulic Automatic Shut Off can be seen on linked page above. Even if you get that can, you still need some type of control to turn off waste water from running on RO unit.

I have not read all of it, but Coral magazine has an article about this in the new issue I just got the other day. D. Knopp & Co. tested some frozen foods. What I had time to read was interesting. I can't remember if it was someone at BRK or someone at MACNA-Houston, but I recall being told a story about pistol shrimp w/ goby combo and that if goby deems other fish threat - it will have pistol kill it. It seems a bit odd for pistol to take a tang out though. Loss of established tang - hmm, I have 2 tangs over the years that were established, one yellow after being in tank for about 4+ year and a tomini after like 2+ years. Both eating fine one day and next, doa. Before and after each loss [at that time I had 2 tanks going, 1 death in each tank] I did not have any other loss. Was it looking thin or maybe fat like something blocking poop track. Or just normal and doa next day?

we upgraded to invision gallery that plugged into the forums and used same user id and password instead of the gaub gallery that was separate software where he had to create new accounts for each new member and activate and was pain in butt. Dhoch is slowly converting over peoples pics from their old gallery to new one but it's very labor intensive and i think he is only up to like letter C on user id names. HTH if ya pm dhoch, he may be able to get you link to old site if ya need.

I don't mean to be picky, especially with all the recent comments of what topics go where, but, in my opinion, you all started a "group buy" and thus, should have been posting this buy there in group buy to organize it. on a side note: I'm starting to think we should eliminate member and bb member privs from posting replies in Vendor news posts because all the comments, questions ... detract from the original post by the vendor - which was simply a listing of what stock or sales they have. I have been just a guilty posting in some threads requesting items be held. Guess this is something for more discusion with larger audiance to get more views.

Garage sale. Post up your new or used equipment here and exchange the item at the meeting, unless you make other arrangements.
-
Post up what you have to sell or trade. NOTE: Remember - Before posting either that you have something to offer or that you want to reserve an item, make sure you will be able to attend the meeting. In the past, we have had several people, including me, bring reserved items only to find out the person who requested it did not show up. To be fair to all, either show up at the meeting or make arrangements to pick up the items before the meeting. Thanks for your understanding, and efforts to make trades go smooth.

Gatortailale replied to Charlie97L's topic in Welcome to WAMAS: FAQ / FYI / Hobby News
fast reply. 1) Stil trying to read through 6 pages of new post after being gone to macna 2) Jessica, our host, requested we email here tuesday or Wednesday, after she gets back from Houston today. Once she is back, she will send us a contact person we can work with to organize group ticket deal. 3) I believe this will be an mid-afternoon event (several small tours) then a meeting in auditorium where the group can ask questions.
