  1. Good to know! I went from PC to T5 instead of MH due to the heat issue (tank is in my room), I have always wondered if I would have been better off going MH...
  2. 64w PC over 24g tank, I think you can safely keep most soft corals and LPS. LPS typically don't spread as fast as soft corals but hey, if they grow that much you can trade them with fellow reefers! I would recommand a frogspawn and Zoo Zoo Zoo! :P
  3. Hi John, I am actually looking for maybe two bags of sand to stock my 65g tank as well... do you still have any in stock?
  4. Really cool SHs and tank! I have always wanted to do a 10g seahorse nano, but I have been iffy about it due to their feeding habit... how often do you have to feed them? And I assume they take frozen mysis? Good stuff! :2thumbsup:
  5. I am looking to upgrade to a 58g tank (or a tank with a 36" footprint), I am wondering if you guys can recommand a good place to goto? Hopefully somwhere that doesn't cost an arm and a leg and is reputable! I really like the Oceanic set that has the light wood and black trim, looks really classy. :D
  6. I am actually planning to go 65g in a month or so... really nervous about sump and plumbing since I have never done it before! Would love to see some pictures of your set up once you have it up and running! PS - I got the exact same T5 light you got there! Great light! :P
  7. Nice tanks! I really like those tanks with the grown in look!
  8. I went with T5 mainly due to heat. Since the tank is sitting right in my bedroom next to my computer, MH is really out of the question... I am pretty happy with it though, sure I miss the shimmer effect, but so far everything seems happy! (including a Crocea clam on the sand bed of a 30g)
  9. Today I saw two Mimic Octopuses and a cuddle fish at Aquarium Center!!! Cuddle was going for $89 and Mimic for ~$250. I was THIS CLOSE to getting the cuddle fish, and of course my gf stopped me. Definitely go check out the Mimic Octopuses before they are sold!!!
  10. Hey thanks Pete! I decided to go with the light, we'll see how it goes! :P I think before I move to my 58g, I will just run 3 tubes (I have mostly softies besides a clam and some random LPS / SPS). I think your post pretty much sums up what I read on RC as well, thanks for the confirmation, definitely helped me think that I made the right decision!
  11. I am about to get this: 36" Tek Light: 6-39W T5 HO Fluorescents http://www.reefgeek.com/products/categorie...ing/104189.html This will go over my 30g and eventually 58g in my bedroom. Do you think this will do? Will it get too hot (water + actual bedroom temp)? Though I will check with local pros first before jumping the gun! :D
  12. I had this problem for awhile, it was probably a combination of tap water and over-feeding. I ended up doing all the water changes with water from Drink More Water and feeding less. I think what REALLY did it was dosing Chemi-clean once. Three days after I dose the stuff, all the red slime algea is gone, and never came back since.
  13. Happy new year! Nothing beats planning a new system! My 30g tank is getting full (I never thought I'd ever say this...), and I am pretty sure I will do an upgrade during the summer. What are some popular size and brand for cube tanks? I plan to go with one MH and some supplemental PCs. Is there anything I should watch out for such as how deep the tank is and stuff? I'd love to hear from some cube tank owners! My current 30g is pretty shallow in terms of front to back distance, I can't wait to try aquascaping something that'd seem more dynamic! :D

I'm about to head to Super Pets tomorrow, might drop by there too, been awhile! Anybody knows their working hours?
  15. WOW! Dude, I'm a believer now... I applied the Joe's Juice not too long ago and all the Aptasias magically "disappeared"! ... WOW!
  16. I've seen people stick them through styrofoam and float them on top of the water. Doesn't look that great, but they're usually in the sump. I had two mangroves in a 10g tank stuck all the way in the sand. Did pretty well. Only problem I had was that the light was too close to the leaves and some leaves got burned. I got mine long time ago on eBay... 10 for $10! Might be worth checking out...
  17. Ordered a non-LCD Won last week along with Juice's Juice, it should get here tomorrow. Can't wait to play with my new toys! :p PS - Sorry my Aptasias!
  18. So in another word, if you want your Xenia and Zoo population to explode, keep your water dirty? :p
  19. Hey thanks guys! Sounds like a trip is in order. BTW Robert, did you get the regular Won or the LCD one?
  20. Happy Thanksgiving guys! [beer2] Got two questions before I go and get my food coma inducing meal... 1) I would like to buy a good quality heater to heat my 30g tank, what brand and wattage should I go with? I have been running heaterless for about 10 months, so far so good; but since the weather is getting colder that will no longer be an option. I would like to invest a bit more on a heater, since my last tank was wiped out due to a heater breakage. 2) I would like to get some Joe's Juice. I understand Exotic Aquatic got them for about 10 bucks, but is there any other LFS that carries it locally? Thank you guys, off to stuffing myself! Have a great and safe holiday! [nana]
