I've always liked the way Triggers looked. Since I was a kid I wanted a Clown Trigger. I'm going to pass on that due to it's behavior but I still want other Triggers.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. No part of my list is set in stone. The only thing that is set in stone is that I not keeping a reef after what happened to my reef. Talk about unpredictable. I basically put all the fish I'd like to have. Now I'll take some off. The clown trigger is going, and the Damsels as well. The grouper is definite. What triggers will be the best for keeping multiple that can keep uo with the rest of fish? The rocks will be very secure. We're going to attach ech one with rods this weekend. I'll definitely get the grouper, wrasse that I listed and triggers. Damsels are already off, and so is the clown trigger. Now that leaves us with: Multiple triggers (not sure what type) Eel Grouper Puffer Wrasse Angel Does that look better? The only thing I don't know about is what kind of triggers.

Agressive Reef if it works. Dave, I'm pretty confused about your post. I understand the part about the fish getting bigger and having problems but I'm not quite sure what you're saying the problem will be. Are you saying that nothing about my list will work once they get bigger or that I should tweak it in a certain way or what?

These are the fish that I want to get for my agressive 180 (220 with sump). I just wanted to here what to expect or what won't work. Emperor Angel Niger Triger Bursa Trigger Clown Trigger Snowflake Eel Miniatus Grouper DogFace Puffer Several Domino or striped Damsels (if they

I think it's pretty silly.

How will BTAs hold up in an agressive tank. I have a GBTA and an RBTA and I'm switching to an agressive tank. Will they be ok?

Oldies, what rocked your reef world?

My 1 year old son loved to look at fish. We bought him a 7 gallon hex and put some fat belly Mollies and he loved it. We hated it since they kepy breeding and were so dirty. We then borrowed a 100 gallon flat back hex from my parrents and set it up. We bought live rock from someone that had a few polyps on it. We didn't want the polyps to die so from the point on our tank was a reef tank. -
Thanks so much. I think it was just the Tyree Watermellon Chalice and the Original Tyree Chalice. Just Kidding. I wish. Thanks.

Since I don't really have any SPS left I think I'm going to sell my lights and Kalk Stirrer that I just purchased. I'm going to keep the Zoas that I still have and once I stock the tank I'll see if the fish nip at them. If they do I'll sell the Zoas I have left. I think I'll purchase a nice retro fit T5 set and mount them in my reflector with my actinics.

Here are a few pictures of what happens when you have a cheap heater. I put the Turaki back in the water just in case.

discretekarma's 180 thread

I guess I should finish this off. Here are just a few that were damaged. -
I think this is what we'd like if they'll all live together. Trigger/s (multiple if possible) Lion Fish Dog Face Puffer (multiple if possible) Emperor Angel Some type/s of Butterfly Fish One ore multiple wrasse Miniatus Grouper Some type of Eel These fish are why we got in the hobby in the first place. Someone sold us some live rock with polyps on it and from then on we limited what fish we put in the tank.

That's scary. I didn't think about that. I'll keep that in mind. I have a Yellow Tang already. Would this be ok in an agressive tank or should I sell it with the rest? Also, how about clowns? I have a medium Tomato Clown, a tiny Tomato Clown, and two medium Clowns in my sump.

I wanted to know if anyone has any pictures of a nice agressive tank. My wife thinks it'll just be a pile of rocks and some fish. In a sense it is but I think it can look really nice if aquascaped properly. I have a lot of nice big and unique rocks. Is there a way they can be attached to each other to make over hangs an things like that? Is anyone especially good at this and near Rockville area? I'm thinking about keeping my current tank. I already have a 180 so buying a new tank would only get me a few inches to the wall and nothing else. It may not be worth the money right now. I'm thinking about putting the live rock in to a rubbermaid stock tank that I have for my koi ponds, draining some water, selling my fish, and then re-aquascaping and buying agressive fish. Any thoughts??? Thanks

That's great info. I think the puffer may be out but the rest sound good. I'm thinking that I'll go with a big agressive tank. I'd like to bring my wife to see some nice agressive set ups so we can get some ideas about aquascaping, fish, lighting and that sort of things.

I'm sure the exact fish but probably Triggers, Angels, and maybe a puffer. Not sure that I'll get all those but some. Where do I find out what type of corals those eat?

Can anyone tell me what types of corals are usually safe in an agressive tank? Thanks

My tank is in a walk out basement so stairs aren't an issue. I have a 180 which fit in with out a problem. If I get a new tank, I really want it to be acrylic. The tank will be 72L x 24D x either 24 or 30 tall. I already know what 24 is like since I have that currently. I don't usually need to reach the bottom since I don't really have corals there. I already use tongs since I don't like to be armpit deep in the water. I'm pretty sure that we want to do an agressive tank next anyways. None of this is definite but the tank will be the same dimensions as what we have now but possibly taller. Even if I keep the same size tank as I have now I think I'll still want a new one since I want the bottow drilled instead of the back like it is now and my current take has a good ammount of scratches and chips in the corners.

I found exactly what I was talking about on the GlassCages site. It's a 240 tall which is 72Lx24Dx31H. They have glass and I'd really like acrylic.
-
Her main issue is that she wants it eye height. I'd also like Acrylic.

I've been talking to my wife about how we want to redo our 180. Once I decided to redo our 180 I really was excited and trying to get my wife onboard. My wife really didn't act like she was interested. At first I was confused and disapointed until I found out that she wanted a bigger tank than our 180. this is where I need your help. She said she wants another 6' tank and she likes the 24" depth but she wants one that is taller than 24". Does such a tank exist? At first we were talking about that half circle but that doesn't allow many options as far as arranging furniture or inside the tank. Is there a tank that's like 72"L x 24"D x 36"H or is that something that needs to be custom made? Also, she doesn't like having any pipes behind the tank so this would need to be all drilled in the bottom.
-
That's probably the most likely option we'll go with but not the only. Does anyone have a good link or list of what type of corals can be kept in an agressive tank?
-
Wow. I really want to thank everyone for the kind words, insperation, and new ideas. As long as the wife agrees, I'd like to stay in the hobby and keep my same equipment. I'm definitely not going to do so with out doing what was said about the fresh water rinse and recuring the rocks. I agree that it's probably copper. The fish are FINE and the inverts are all dead. I watched my purple lobster come out from under his rock and die in the front of the tank. I felt bad watching that wishing there was something I could do. I shut off my frag tank and did a 100% water change but everything still died. I'm guessing that there was too much toxins in the sand and rocks. I think I'm just going to leave it alone for a bit while me and my wife talk it over and decide. She is just pissed that we spend so much money on corals and inverts just to have them all die and she's hesitant to continue to throw more money in to the tank. I do like the idea of trying something new. Maybe an agressive tank. Maybe something else. I'm guessing that a 180 is too small for sting rays or sharks though. I love having corals so I'd be tough to do agressive but we'll see. My tank looks like death right now. It's all grey and there are tons of empty shells and coral skeletons. It reminds me of Mr Magoriums Toy shop once everything lost the magic for those who have seen it. I'm sure if I start a reef tank again I'll take everyone up on their frag offers. I think my wife would be more likely to go for an aggressive tank since we spent so much on corals. I sure do love corals though. Thanks again. Scott
-
I also think I'll end up keeping my 180. I'm very tempted to take everything out of the tank, clean it out, rinse the sand, cure the rock (or not), redo how everything is hooked up, remove my frag tank from the system and start over. Would curing the rocks be the best way to know for sure that I've removed any toxins?

As many of you have probably read, my 180 just crashed this weekend thanks to an exploding heater. Out of 100+ corals, only a few are still alive and even those are hardly alive. I've been doing everything I can to save what I have be it doesn't look like anything will work. There's not much left to save at this point. I do still have all my equipment, live rock, sand, and a strong desire to stay in the hobby. Since everything is dead now I'm on the fence between getting out or starting over with a new tank. I'd like a new shape or sized tank if I stay in. I'm probably going to start cycling the rocks soon. I'd like to try to find a used 144 gallon half circle. I'm still not sure I'm staying in but if I do I just want to do it with something new. I'll keep some of the equipment and rocks but either way I'll be selling my tank, stand, canopy, lights, sump, and pump once I've taken all the rocks and sand out. We'll see. I'll keep you posted. I'm not looking for encouragement to stay in or not but just new tank ideas in case we do want to stay in or if anyone knows where to get a cheap/used 144 gallon half circle.
