  1. I haven't had my tank setup for a while as I've considered setting something back up. It's just not the right time for me. Right now I'm just selling my skimmer but soon enough will be selling my dart, OM4, and rock. For now I'm selling my Deltec AP600 with Aquabee UP2000 pump - $300 obo edit: I have it on Craigslist for the same price. I'd be more willing to negotiate on here. Best negotiation tool would be time. I'd like to sell today as I'm off work. I also wanted to mention that it's really great to see so many of the same names that were here before I stepped away. This is truly a great club. Scott
  2. Everything made it through just fine. Thanks everyone for the support.
  3. Power came back on today. Just in time for us to get the dishwasher ran before the storm tomorrow.
  4. Our power went out late on Frinday in Colesville and is still out. I've had a lot of my house running on generator power since the power went out. How long can my tank go with just the Eheim 1262 return pump and the heater? At what point should I get the rest back up? I was hoping to wait until the power came back on but who knows when that'll be. I'm told by my wife that Pepco is hoping for Tuesday night.

  6. Wow. No wonder. I'm in Colesville. HIGHEST BY STATE (NWS SPOTTERS): Colesville, MD: 40.0" Lehew, WV: 34.0" Howellsville, VA: 32.0" Upper Strasburg, PA: 31.0" National Park, NJ: 28.5" American University, DC: 27.5" Wilmington, DE: 26.5" Washington, DC: 20.0" Coumbiana, OH: 17.0" Blowing Rock, NC: 13.2" Great Kills, NY: 6.4" Alexandria, IN: 6.0"
  7. We lost power late on Friday night and still don't have power here in Silver Spring/Colesville. Lucky I have the generator. I went and got gas yesterday. I'll go again before the Super Bowl. The only difference for me is the dishwasher isn't on the transfer switch. Otherwise, there's no difference. Also, a tree branch fell on my roof. I don't think there's any damage. Tank is fine.
  8. I still don't have power. It went out in the middle of the night last night and is still out. I have had the generator going all day. I took my neighbor to the gas station so he could get some gas and I filled up another 5 gallon container while I was there. Looks like Pepco may spend too much time making their outage map cool and not enough time getting the power back on.
  9. Not sure which series you have. Here it says 5 Gallon Fuel Tank Provides Up To 10 Hour Run Time @ 50% load. With 3.5 gallons you could run this model for about 7 hours. The elite series says it has a 7 gallon fuel tank that runs 13 hours @ 50% load. Both are 5500 watt. With 3.5 gallons you could run this model for 6.5 hours.
  10. I have the generator hooked up to a transfer switch in my house. The generator is running my fridge, microwave, gas oven, sumps, den, master, tv, internet, and others as well. The transfer switch shows the load and it looks like it went down quite a bit when I cut the extra tank things off. If it's important, I'll put some back on. I'd rather have tv/internet than closed loop if the return pump is suffiicient.
  11. To reduce the load on my generator (and increase the ammount of time my gas will last) I unplugged everything for my tank accept my Eheim 1262 return pump and heater. No skimmer, no CaRx, no lights, no closed loop. Is this ok?
  12. Nevermind. 10 Hour run time at half load
  13. I have a briggs and stratton generator. It's 8000 running watts and 13000 starting watts. Is there anyway to know how much fuel consumption it will use?
  14. I woke up a little while ago to no power. The house temp dropped to 57 but the tank temp hadn't dropped much at all. I got the generator running now with the transfer switch. First time using it.
  15. The power or the snow on the trees?
  16. I'm a manager for Target and judging by the past few days, you'd think the world was going to end. People buying 4 bottles of laundry soap (are you really going to do 400 loads this weekend?), and every bit of food, candles, flashlights, board games, and TV's (super bowl) that they could get their hands on. It was about as busy as black friday this morning. I opened the doors at 8 and there were about 100 people waiting to pour in. It stayed just as busy all day long.
  17. When I look at Pepco's power outage map it looks like there are a lot of areas losing power already. During the major snow we had in December, the same map showed almost no outages. Mines still good in Colesville/Silver Spring.
  18. I think we may see more power outages since the snow will be so much wetter and heavier.
  19. Republican, Military Doctor, Husband...Just to name a few.
  20. While the snail makes a get away? That is something I'd have to see to believe.
  21. On my 180 I had no caps on top with drilled holes and on my frag tank I put the caps on top and drilled them. Here's how mine were on my 180. And on my frag tank.
  22. Thanks. I think I'm all set. I just need one more tube from HD that'll fit on top where the effluent comes out. I have several sizes that I figured would work but none work so I'll have to head back to try something else. Otherwise I'm all set.
  23. Since I don't have an internal probe for the reactor, would it work to have the effluent drip in to one of those hang on the side specimen cups and then let it overflow in to the sump? Also, my sump is small and split in to two sides, the skimmer and the return pump. It's divided by baffles. Would it be better to have the effluent overflow into the skimmer section or into the return pump section. Feed pump selection - I have a maxijet 1200 (295 gph) that I spoke of earlier and an aquaclear 402 (270 gph). I currently use the maxijet for water changes and don't have the aerator adapter. I found that I also have a aquaclear 402 that has the adaptor built on. Since the reactor doesn't need the full 295 gph that the maxijet pumps, would the other powerhead work just as well?
  24. I got a Deltec 509 Calcium Reactor that I'm working on setting up. I read several pages on line regarding the basics of how they work and how to hook up but there are a few questions that I'd like answered if possible. The first is regarding the tubing. There are two small hookups for small tubing (ro/di size tubing) on the elbow where the recirc pump (aqua bee) is located. There is also a slightly large tube hookup on top of the reactor lid. I believe that one of the smaller ones is for the co2. One of the remaining must be for the effluent. What's the last one for? A feed pump? If so, what pump should I use? I have a maxi jet 1200. Would that work? May not be ideal but would it work since I already have it? Also, which of the small ones would be for co2 and which would be for the effluent? Should the effluent go in to the sump or in to a cup then into the sump or what? Lastly, where should the reactor be located? My sump is small and pretty full. Can the reactor sit next to the sump and drip the effluent in to the sump? If so, should it sit on the ground or on a stand? Does some part need to be higher in order for the effluent to drip properly? Thanks
  25. Where can I get a co2 tank filled near Colesville or Silver Spring? Also, around how much does this cost for a 5 or 10 lb tank. Not sure which I have.
