discretekarma replied to YBeNormal's topic in General Discussion

I'll go through each screen. it says: EMAIL :ON SMTP Server - SMTP.GMAIL.COM FROM ADDRESS - MYADDRESS@GMAIL.COM TO ADDRESS - MYPHONENUMBER@VTEXT.COM ALT TO ADDRESS - MYWIFESEMAIL@YAHOO.COM EMAIL AUTH: ON AUTH USER : BLANK AUTH PASSWORD - BLANK ALARM : ALM REEMEAIL DELAY : 060 M SMTP PORT : 25 If anyone sees anything wrong with this, please let me know so I can get it working. -

Sample programming for Aqua Controllers?
discretekarma replied to YBeNormal's topic in General Discussion
Now that I've done the basic programming, I'm having trouble figuring out how to text message my alarms to my cell phone and email. I was thought this was possible but can't get it to work. On the Aqua Notes I put my cell number in the pager box and pushed the test button and get nothing. Is that not right? I didn't see any other possibility. I can't get the email to work either. Can anyone help? -
My SPS are growing like crazy right now. It's crazy. Everything is growing nicely compaired to a few months ago when I wasn't using two part. Are you saying to skip a Kalk Stirrer and go straight to a Calcium Reactor?
-
What order would be best? I thought it would be best to start with Two Part until it became too much and then move on to kalk stirrer untill the system was too much for that and then move on to a calc reactor. Is that the right order? If so, is it correct that I need to move on to a kalk stirrer? Thanks

I've been using two part for a few months now on my 180. I have a lot of SPS as well as other corals. Most are still small but a few of the SPS colonys are big. At first I was working on getting my calcium and alkility levels up to 400 and 10. I have to add 300 ml of calcium and 300 ml of alk to keep my levels up and I just checked today and that isn't even keeping my levels up. I've been making a new gallon batch of each every two weeks. It's just too much now. What else can I do? Is there a stronger two part I can use?

Wow. Thanks

When I backed away, it is too smal to see anything even when it's fully zoomed in. I guess my camera isn't that good. I'll have to go with everyones best guess since that's the best I can do and it's gone this morning. If it comes back I'll borrow my dad's Rebel XTI which should do a little better then what I have. Thanks so far to everyone who's tagged along. Scott I took Dhoch photography suggestions and posted the pictures. The white things are gone but I wanted to see if these pictures are better so I'll know how to take the pics when the stuff comes back. Thanks for the suggestions.

Thanks. That wamas member was me bob. That was a different Superman I bought online. My point and shoot won't get a better picture. I'm not sure if it only happens at night because this evening (with the lights on) was the first time i've seen it.

I got this coral last week online and it was supposed to be a Superman Monti. It hasn't yet looked anything like a Superman to me which is another story but tonight I noticed it has what looks like some kind of foam balls on it. That's the best I can describe it. It almost looks like cotton or filter floss too. Does anyone know what this is or what I should do about it? Even though these pictures aren't good, it's the best I can do.

That makes sence. Since it's right before Christms and not the best time to buy a UV or anything drastic, I think I am going to just keep a close eye on everything and then I'll make changes if anything happens. Thanks so much for everyones feedback.

Is it possible that it was ich with no physical signs on that fish other then rubbing on the rocks for one day? I looked over the fish daily. I only feed the main tank frozen mixed blocks and seaweed strips that I clip to the glass. The blocks come wtih four different types and I put all the blocks in a water bottle with tank water that I keep in the fridge and squirt in the tank every day. Is the garlic something special from a fish store or regular garlic? Should I start this treatment and/or maybe something else to protect the Blue Hippo and Yellow Tang that are still alive? Thanks so much for everyones help.

I know they are considered non reef safe but I've had an arrow crab for 6 months and he keeps the worms under control but doesn't seem to bother anything else.

This post will give a lot of information about the chemistry of the tank. I'm not sure what other information about the fish would help. No changes have been made to the tank in a while. We do have an arrow crab but I think if he was the culprit that he would have been around picking at the dead body which he wasn't. This link has all the info about my tank and all the levels and setup are still the same. http://www.wamas.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=17958 Parameters as of today are: PH 8.4 Nitrates 0 Ammonia 0 Temp 79 SG 1.025 Calcium 400 Alk 10 Are there any more levels or details that would help?

I'm sure nothing spilled in the tank and no other fish is ill but it may have been an internal illness. I'm not sure how to tell. I know the fish was alive yesterday and today he was completely white (acceot for his face) and half way decomposed/eaten. Luckily nothing spiked. I've been checking it all day and did a 10% water change. Thanks Connor for your ideas.

I might add that I feed frozen food to my tank but haven't changed there food in a long time. I read that frozen found could make them rub the rocks for some reason.

Today I was doing a little maintenance on my tank and saw what looked like a tail on the bottom of the sand bed covered by hermit crabs. I thought it was my Cardinal since that's where he hangs out at but I found him still alive. I looked all over and realized my Clown Tang was missing. I knew it couldn't be him since this fish seemed much smaller. I looked again for my Clown Tang to no avail...he was gone. It must be him. I started the process of removing the rocks that keeps me from getting him out. When I finally had a clear view, I realized that he was so far wedged under the rock that only his tail was sticking out and I could not even get him out with a net. I had to lift the rock up to free his body that was now covered in hermit crabs. My question is why would he have rammed himself under a rock or how the H-E-double hocky sticks did he get so far wedged under the rock? I had noticed yesterday that him and the Hippo Tang were rubbing themselves on rocks, but neither seemed to have any abrasions from this behavior or visible signs of illness. This morning the Hippo Tang seems to have one small white dot on his eye and is still rubbing against rocks. Besides that there are no other alarming problems obvious to me, and the levels are good. Does anyone know what may have happen to my Clown Tang? Should I be doing something regarding the Hippo Tang? Has anyone had any similar things happen to them? Any advice would be appreciated. Here is a picture of the Hippo Tang on the side with the white eye.

reeftopia.com and saltwaterfish.com have some good deals. I have not found a local fish store that can come close to online prices when it comes to clean-up crews. Peppermint Shrimp will eat the Aptasia Anemone. I'm sure you can get 2-3 of those at a local fish store for a reasonable price like $5 each.

SPS Jackpot Brown to Superman to Rainbow?
discretekarma replied to bk_market's topic in General Discussion
I'm not sure why but he seems to have tons of encrusting rocks that are brown in his system and then they color up. That's how I recognized that one. I bet if he fixed that, he'd have tons of sales. -
SPS Jackpot Brown to Superman to Rainbow?

The first one looks like it may have come from Mr Coral. Is that right? -
I couldn't agree more about how important the right sump is.

Well done. It looks great so far and I look forward to updates. I really like the rock work. -
Looks like a Greek Temple to me.

Any idea where you can get something like that?
