  1. Denver has some amazing tanks with folks like Cris Capp and reefkoi (chris). If you happen to be out here for vacationing or work, check out the local fish stores if you have a day driving around the city.
  2. I met Guin, one of the co-creator for this project yesterday. She asked if we have pictures of new corals or fishes that we don't see in the project, we can send pixes to them and they use them for the project. That's their biggest challenge is to find the right pix to use. Information is not an issue.
  3. Stopped by Neptune's tropical fish store near work and took a few quick pixes. Sharon, the owner of this store grows a palm size hammer coral to now hosting in a 200G tank 4'x3'x3'. The coral living age is 17 years now. You can view the rest here, http://s384.photobucket.com/albums/oo282/v...mview=slideshow Didn't realize the consoleil on Sharon's pix until I get back to the hotel.
  4. http://s384.photobucket.com/albums/oo282/vaironman/ Newbie with a new DSLR 2 days old, please excuse my photography skills. I am still learning how to adjust white balance. Have fun,
  5. Another piece of equipment that really helps against ich is the UV light. Try to look into that. HTH,
  6. In this case, Fishes got ich due to stress user's created, not from LFS.
  7. Just try to slowdown and be patient introducing new fish into your tank. We all go to the same process, learning curve. At least, you're here and lots of people with good knowledge to help. You're already better than most others without knowing wamas.
  8. Please post your water condition test ph nitrate salinity Tank size how long have you had this Tang any other fish species are in this tank A picture from camera phone will help
  9. Can't be afraid of what you believe in and passionate about.
  10. It's an ongoing project by a small group of young people.
  11. "b) tough enough to handle the environment" Dave, Neat project. What is your plan to do when you have the kids tour this touch tank? Prewash their hands so handsoap and lotion won't get into the tank water or do you plan to do a demo then remove the fishes/invertebrates to put them back into their regular tank?
  12. A beautiful documentary movie, written and produced by Rob Stewarts with captain Paul Watson. A powerful movie with beautiful marine scenes. One man fights for righteousness. http://www.sharkwater.com/
  13. He should feed with the powerhead turned off. That would help maintain water quality a little better, less maintenance..
  14. My flame do not bothers sps or any corals. Have had another couple before the current one, same. HTH,
  15. I can see the site find from clicking on the orig. link above, James.
  16. As its title said James "Best Job in the World", still a job and looking for the right candidate. Researcher who can focus in explore and finding new exciting facts on reef, also trying to promote their tourism market to help a lackluster economy. Yup.
  17. Yes, it is pretty d.mn cool! Good find Niki!
  18. brown/red serpent starfish and brittle starfish are easy to keep, plus they are good scavenger clean up crew. If you have enough green algae on tank walls/rocks, then keep the colorful red linckia starfish will be good. See BZA for pixes of different starfishes: http://www.bluezooaquatics.com/productList...id=85&did=2
  19. Talk to Johnny and his staffs. They are pretty good folks.
  20. I forgot what Bob (lanman) has but in his 240G main tank, there was a really beautiful, funky, anemone, colorful like the pix above. And it was on the right side of your tank Bob. Bob probably knows the scientific name for his corals since he scout the net with reading even more worse than most of us when stuck at something/issue/question.
  21. The skimmer in pix probably won't be able to keep up with heavy bioload. I think it's best that you invest in a nice skimmer before trying to populate new fishes. Introducing a few small fishes such as clownfish, gobies should be good until a better skimmer put in and species such as Tang or dwarf angels can be introduced. Another small detail when you're ready to introduce these new fishes in, try to feed them as little as you can and watch them consume all the food within 5 minutes. If they are unable to finish all, lessen the amount of feeding a bit next day. Looking at your signature, looks like a 90G tank is in the planning. Are you planning to keep the 54g along with the new 90G or just one tank when done? If only one, it is probably wise to get a skimmer that can also support the 90G tank and save money in the future for more fishes + corals. HTH, KLee
  22. He's now the king of Chalices collection in DC, NoVA, and MD area, plus lots of beautiful rainbow acans. And some SPSs just glow under his camera.
