dhoch August 26, 2006 Share August 26, 2006 I'm big on peristalic pumps for makeup and additives. What are you going to use it for? How are you going to control it? For my 2 cents (and I have one of each of those pumps) the nautlis is a MUCH more relialbe pump than the aquamedic... The Nautilis is medical grade and will do a great job. scarletknight06 August 26, 2006 Share August 26, 2006 my understanding of the nautilus (could be mistaken though) is that it is a 2 channel doser, but the channels are not independant. Meaning both things you are dosing are dosed at the same rate, so for 2 part additives it might (bionic or randy's 2 part) not be what you need. Thats why I was looking into the litermeter3 or the grotech dosing pumps. Anyone know of anyother dual independant channel dosing set ups? Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I would set the timer to turn on at night and the float switch should stop it after 1 gallon has filled. What rate should I set the dosing pump at to fill about 1g per day. Nautilis II: http://www.innovativeaquatics.com/products/nautilis2.html 3A: http://www.innovativeaquatics.com/products/nautilis3A.html I emailed Inovative about the two pumps and they said: " The Nautilis II is the better pump - more "fine tuning" in the adjusting of rates. I have to change the site a little......The high volume tubing should come with the 3A, since that pump is best used for kalk only." About the using my float switch to cut off the power: " Your float switch would shut off the pump. The display would go blank, and when the switch said "on", the pump wouldn't do anything, because it would be off. My float switch would just stop the rotor from turning; the pump would stay on." dhoch August 27, 2006 Share August 27, 2006 The timer option is basically a plug standard 3 pin that you plug into a timer and a small jack that goes into the back of the pump. When it gets power (Timer on) then you will get dosing. When it doesn't have power it doesn't does (pump stays on (lit), but does not pump). You WILL NEED the timer option. If your Auto top off has a plug allready wired into it (to plug a pump in for example) you will just need to put it in series with the timer (i.e. timer option -> auto top off plug -> Timer -> wall jack) You should NOT get both options you can not use both at the same time. I just put it on a timer to come on for ~1hr/day I trust a timer a heck of a lot more than a float switch! I've the the neptune dosing pump for 3 years and it's NEVER failed... had a problem when I was stretching the feed line to it a little more than I should have but other than that it's flawless... If I follow your scheme with their timer option, would their comment regarding the pump shutting off and not working still be valid vs using their float switch which would just stop the rotor. Maybe I got lucky, or maybe problems are on the way, but I haven't had any yet, and I've used it a long time on different tanks, with/without head.
