gastone February 8, 2024 February 8, 2024 Nicole, I've been away from reef keepingfor about 15 years. Was surfing around WAMAS and came across this thread. I'm absolutely fascinated by your work. Kudos and I look forward to chatting. Garrett.
ReefdUp February 8, 2024 Author February 8, 2024 Hi Garrett! Thank you so much for your interest and reaching out! It's been a passion for a long time, but I'll certainly say that kind comments like this help encourage me to keep going. I'll be at the meeting this Saturday if you'll be there. If you haven't seen them yet and are interested, I also have a webpage and a MACNA presentation on YouTube. Hope to chat with you more soon! Welcome back to the hobby! - Nikki

DaJMasta May 10, 2024 May 10, 2024 I know you've had lots of success in the past, but I wonder if the paper discussed here could shed some light on setting up better hospital tanks. At least at a glance, things like UV, lower water temperatures, perhaps lower aeration (smaller skimmer than usual for the size?), and maybe even carbon (for neutralizing mucus in the water) may be useful tools in a hospital tank post treatment to increase recovery times or survival rates.

Ack! I'm so sorry - I completely missed your post! I haven't had a chance to watch the video yet, but there are absolutely a lot of things that help in hospital tanks. My hospital tank is currently sitting at 74*F (not recommended), running carbon, but I use higher aeration (interested to know the logic behind lower aeration). Hopefully I can watch it this weekend. Thanks for sharing!
ReefdUp January 18, 2025 Author January 18, 2025 There are some big things underway here... and to kick it off, it's about time that we had a real way to assess coral diseases! Looking forward to your thoughts! Coral Disease Assessment: Key Lesion Insights for Hobbyists Stay tuned for the next big announcement.
ReefdUp January 24, 2025 Author January 24, 2025 Ryan Batcheller and I had a fun conversation on Serious Reefs discussing how I save corals as a hobby. Check it out if you'd like hear more! (Note: It's behind a paywall, so if that's not your thing, well, I'll be at the next meeting so we can chat in person!)
ReefdUp July 26, 2025 Author July 26, 2025 Hello all! I have some good news - and some not-so-good news. I was just accepted into a doctoral program for engineering, but this means my coral rehabilitation efforts are going to go on an indefinite pause. As I have time, I'll still try to post about my experiences (I have so many articles written that just need finishing touches). Hopefully the last 18 years of coral rescuing brought some good into the world, and I hope to restart it again once I'm "Dr. Bridges." 5
cpeguero July 26, 2025 July 26, 2025 That’s great news! Congratulations! Best of luck with the doctoral program.
