I don't really say much about local vendors, but I feel like I should comment on this establishment.

I've gone out there twice now, once to pick up my plugs and the other for a social. From my experience, I've never gone to a LFS where I've wanted to stay longer and talk to the employees, like at BRK. Those guys are really genuine in their interest in customers.

There are places 10 or 20 minutes away from me that are ok, but I will without a doubt take the time and gas money to go out to BRK for any livestock purchase. Who else QTs their livestock for less than almost triple the price? I get tired of going to a LFS and seeing dead fish.

So you are saying, yeah I've heard it before.... and that is exactly what I thought, but I was surprised. BRK learns as much by their customers as their customers learn from them. And for that I thank you.

OK, I step off the soap box......

Yup, I've had similar, consistently rediculously good experiences there. I posted something very similar to this a few months back.

May I add to this thread...

Today, I went to pick up my pair of Bluechins that BRK has kept for two weeks to quarantine them. We noticed a cut on the female trigger that looked rather deep. Without hesitation, John suggested that they keep both of them another week (3 weeks) to monitor her healing. He did not want to split the pair up, which is why he suggested that he keep them both.

I was very impressed with this. I had already paid for them so there was no financial gain to be had by keep them an extra week. But he did not want me to take the pair home knowing that the female was not completely healthy.

They go above and beyond what is necessary to keep their customers happy. I too will travel far to continue to do business with this reputable LFS.

Thank you John and Byron for all your help.

Yup my kinda place, in fact I'm going today to pick some lights. I find that its worth the trip for live stock "close enough to internet price" dry goods. Now to buy a home with a back yard to put a koi pond in.....

i have also been there a few times. i like the atmosphere of it.

johnny i still havnt hooked up the uv sterilizer yet. but am going to soon. didnt you sell it to me in feb?

i also want a koi pond but will have to peice it together over the years. i have a nice shady spot were not much grass grows that i would like to fill up.

i think i will have to start with carp/ large goldfish first :(

actually a better spot may be right beside my japanese red maple. hmm........ to dream

Thanks for the posts everybody.

One of my pet peeves about this hobby is so often the people involved are annoyed that you know less than they do. So often it feels like you are somehow imposing on the employees personal time if you ask them questions.

I went to BRK this weekend and fully agree with you about their excellent customer service. It was all 'what can we do for you', 'how did you hear about us', 'drop by anytime'.

Thank you!
