  1. One of the best places to buy camera equipment is b and h photo. They are in New York and have a huge selection. My uncle is a pro and won't buy from anyone else. The service is fantastic and they always stand behind their stuff. Their website is www.bhphotovideo.com. Check it out. FWIW I just bought a Nikon D40 and absolutely love it. No question their lenses are the best. Thomas
  2. Just wanted to put something up about Sean. I stopped in the other day after a long hiatus of sorts from the hobby. And I gotta say that Sean got me excited about it all over again. I didn't break down my tank or anything, just hadn't been inspired to improve anything. But after talking with him for an hour or so, I ended up buying a beautiful powder blue tang and later bought 6 glass cardinals. And they are doing great! I don't see much on here about f@f and just wanted to remind people in the Ashburn area that he is still there and doing great things.
  3. Andrew is one of the best fish store managers in the area. He is very knowledgable and a really nice guy to boot. I don't mind the drive at all. His livestock is some of the healthiest around and he has a great variety too. Just my two cents. Thomas
  4. Hi All, I need some help. Our ASM isn't skimming properly. The pump is moving water but there is no air injection therefore no skimmate. I've taken it all apart. Cleaned everything thoroughly, ensured there were no broken parts. But still no air injection. Suggestions please? Thanks! Jenny
  5. I asked my uncle the same question a while back(he is a pro) and he told me that he uses the rebel for all of his personal photos and about half of his pro shots. Even though he has the choice of whatever he wants, he really likes the rebel for the durability and choice of lens. Like dhoch said, the lenses are the most important aspect of the dslr. The body really depends on the way it feels in your hand and ease of use of the most important features to you. In other words, go to a camera shop and ask to play around with them all. Then decide which one feels best to you. Hope that helps. Thomas p.s. I use an Olympus c740 point and shoot and I love it.
  6. glad to hear they are improving, last time I was there, tanks looked terrible. I will have to give them a second chance.
  7. I had one eat a 6" blue spiny lobster once. Vicious.
  8. ADHI makes a great sump as well. Pricey though. Check champion lighting.
  9. Thanks again Shawn! It was great to finally meet you. Everything is doing fabulous this morning. And thank you so much for being so welcoming. Jenny

  11. Thanks guys, but I can't take all of the credit. Powderbrown has been trying to do this stuff for almost a year, just needed some support. I appreciate the kind words however. I hope to see some more wamas members in soon. Thomas p.s. the sump really is bada$$.
  12. Like the title says, from 11-16 to 11-20, all saltwater fish at Wally's are buy one get one of equal or lesser value free. Come in and check out the selection. And exclusively for WAMAS members, show your card and get a free zoa frag free when your purchase is over $100. Come check us out. Thomas
  13. With amazonian fish, you need to use blackwater extract. It recreates the soft water needed for most amazonian fish. Also, I would plant some live plants and use a planted aquarium substrate. And I would definately use t5 or pc lighting. For reference, you might look up Takashi Amano. He has done some amazing things with small tanks. Good luck. Thomas
  14. This new guy started about 1.5 months ago.
