khh27 November 11, 2016 November 11, 2016 I am soon going to be dipping some if not all coral for some algae removal that is on them. My knowledge is hydrogen peroxide. I belive it is a combo of hair and bryopsis. Have some bubble to bit that easier to manual remove for me at the moment. 1. What strengths if dilute what ratio to water. 2. How long of a dip 3. What can and can't I dip in it? 4. What I can't dip what other safe method can I use to remove other than manual removal? If I forgot anything please let me know. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
sethsolomon November 11, 2016 November 11, 2016 (edited) Hydrogen peroxide can only be used to get rid of algae on zoas and other softies. It can easily kill LPS and SPS. As for directions, fill your dipping container with tank water and place the frags you want to dip in that container. The slowly add Hydrogen Peroxide until you start to see bubbles forming. Once you start to see bubbles forming, let it sit for 5 min in that solution. They should eventually get all bubbly. The swap corals as they hit the 5 min mark if you have more than the container will fit. As for LPS and SPS, you could set up a QT tank with a mess load of hermits and emerald crabs. and let them eat it all off. Note: I hear some people use it to dip LPS and SPS but I would be very cautious when doing this. I tried it once and it killed the corals I dipped. Edited November 11, 2016 by sethsolomon

What about chalices. Got a few of those I could use to get it off Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
WilRams November 11, 2016 November 11, 2016 I used the same method as Seth. I have used it with zero losses so far (knock on wood). I have used it on favias, acans, hammers, torches, zoas and palys. I don't think I would try a chalice though and like mentioned def not sps.
Joshifer November 11, 2016 November 11, 2016 I picked up a hammer covered in hair. All I did was use tank water in a little container and a tooth brush. Yes it got mad but now it's one of the prettiest corals in my tank.
ReefAddict November 11, 2016 November 11, 2016 I have had success only dipping the outer skeletons on LPS and also scrubbing with a toothbrush that is dipped in peroxide. I would be hesitant to do it on a chalice.
hlem November 11, 2016 November 11, 2016 (edited) I dipped my Acans -and favia in about 60/40 tank water / peroxide for about 5-7 mins. They were pissed for about 3-4 days but are good now. Oh, I had extreme turf algae Edited November 12, 2016 by hlem
