Clams in stock

Just think of the possibilities for saving money on live rock with a gigas! I have that 300 waiting to be filled (and put on a stand, and built into the wall, and plumbed, and cycled...). I could use it to stock one side of the tank!

 

Seriously, though, I'm pretty sure that they are eaten in other countries. If you ever have a chance to go to Tahiti, check out their fish market. It's a reef tank owner's dream, except the fish are all dead and stuck onto piles of ice... you wouldn't believe how many tangs, triggers, and angels I saw waiting for someone to buy them for their dinner.

Some quick research revealed that tridacnid clams are eaten as food in Asia.

Hehehe, Johnny, you sure better stock up on clams for the hosting of the Wamas Gourmet social for the grand opening of Blue Ribbon Koi & Cafe. It could be like at one of these fancy sea food restaurants where customers can choose their live fish and crustaceans from a display tank. :lol:
