gmerek2 April 13, 2014 April 13, 2014 My tuxedo urchin just expelled a 10 minute long turd. I had no idea it could even fill up with that much stuff. It was gel looking somewhat clear. Most of the fish were eating the poop. It stopped and appears to be ok. Normal behavior? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

smallreef April 13, 2014 April 13, 2014 Are you sure it's poo and not sperm, of course I have no clue if they even release sperm...but just throwing it out there...

It was a massive load of sperm or eggs. That didn't even cross my mind. Now I'm curious if they can reproduce in home aquarium.

Not sure if they can in a controlled environment -- but with fish present then certainly not since gametes are tasty to fish. Edited April 14, 2014 by jaddc

flooddc April 14, 2014 April 14, 2014 (edited) I have a pincushion urchin that unload lots of poos like that. At first I thought it was a pile of sand on top of my corals and then one day, caught it doing it thing. Seem like nothing eats them. Found this: Edited April 14, 2014 by flooddc

zygote2k April 14, 2014 April 14, 2014 I just had one release a big sperm trail the other day. I'm hoping the other urchin in the tank is female and offspring will result.
