My tuxedo urchin just expelled a 10 minute long turd. I had no idea it could even fill up with that much stuff. It was gel looking somewhat clear. Most of the fish were eating the poop. It stopped and appears to be ok. Normal behavior? Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image

I think we are all going to chip in and get you the book "Everybody Poos."

Are you sure it's poo and not sperm, of course I have no clue if they even release sperm...but just throwing it out there...

Thanks for your help. It was a massive load of sperm or eggs. That didn't even cross my mind. Now I'm curious if they can reproduce in home aquarium.

Not sure if they can in a controlled environment -- but with fish present then certainly not since gametes are tasty to fish.

I have a pincushion urchin that unload lots of poos like that. At first I thought it was a pile of sand on top of my corals and then one day, caught it doing it thing. Seem like nothing eats them.

I just had one release a big sperm trail the other day. I'm hoping the other urchin in the tank is female and offspring will result.
