YHSublime March 3, 2014 March 3, 2014 So I just added a 20lb bag of sand to the mantis tank. And of course everything is plumbed in together, so, it looks like my display will be fogged up for the next couple of hours. No big deal, sure everything will be just fine. The Fiji Pink Carib Sea Aragonite came with a little pack labeled as Bio Magnet Clarifier. I did a quick google search and I can't find it is reef safe. It's made to put a positive charge into your waters ions (don't ask me, I'm not a Dr.) but I just want to know if it's OK for inverts, corals, rocks, pods, pretty much EVERYTHING before I use it. Usually my motto is is that if it's questionable, the answer is "no." Anybody have any experience?
lnevo March 3, 2014 March 3, 2014 I used it when starting up my tank, but I had nothing in it that time. You should throw a good filter sock in front of the drain from the mantis shrimp. It should clean up pretty quick...

It should clean up pretty quick... I also did, but then i didn't have any corals, inverts, fish, pods, etc in the tank already. Eh, I don't think I'll stress it. It's all clearing up already, just wondering if I could use the bio magnet stuff without screwing up my reef. Also don't see myself going out in our current snow situation to buy and hook up a filter sock
lutz123 March 4, 2014 March 4, 2014 I didn't add mine. I figured I was fine without it and the unknown made me a wee bit nervous.
YHSublime March 4, 2014 Author March 4, 2014 the unknown made me a wee bit nervous. This part. I'd rather not off my tank in one fell swoop, even though I don't think I need to worry. It's clearing up already, should be fine come the AM.
dante411x March 4, 2014 March 4, 2014 I did a lot of research about the same thing for the same reason when I was starting my tank. I had a sand storm in my tank for a couple weeks after adding sand. According to the Carib sea website... Nothing. Literally. But from what I remember it does the same thing as seachem clarity. I used both in the end and everything in the tank isn't dead in the end. It didn't do anything to water clarity though. In the end I hooked up a canister filter I had laying around with a bunch of filter floss in it and ran that for a week to clear up the particles. Prolly doesn't help you though. This might. I wouldn't use it. There is no statement saying it's reef safe anywhere including their site. Which puts it in your category of "questionable" Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
YHSublime March 4, 2014 Author March 4, 2014 Yeah, I couldn't find anything either. From the looks of it, the tank will be cleared up by the morning.
YHSublime March 4, 2014 Author March 4, 2014 Thanks fellas. Tank is cleared sans bio magnet. No harm, no foul
jason the filter freak March 4, 2014 March 4, 2014 I was pretty impressed how well it worked. Combine it with a filter sock or a reactor stuffed with floss and the tank clears up pretty rapidly

I came home tonight, and you can't even tell I added 20lbs of sand.
