bendeng September 26, 2013 Share September 26, 2013 Hello, My first, a rusty crayfish my boyfriend caught out of a local creek that really jumpstarted me in the freshwater hobby, unfortunately passed this morning. Due to unforseen environmental circumstances beyond my control (family cranked the heat in the house and my room is the seventh circle of H-E-double hockey sticks) poor Leonard couldn't withstand the heat (woke up to see the temp was at 87º). He was like a red headed stepchild. Never listened, did whatever he wanted, but I still loved him. May he be digging holes in his creek up in heaven. Coral Hind September 26, 2013 Share September 26, 2013 Welcome to the club! Sorry for your loss. How long did he live with you? Do you also have a saltwater tank?

FrankieGee September 26, 2013 Share September 26, 2013 Wow, Leonard was very nice looking. Sorry for your loss. It's crazy how we get so attached to these little critters. I never thought it could happen. You'll be fine in time. Welcome to WAMAS!
smallreef September 26, 2013 Share September 26, 2013 I'm very sorry to hear this, but on a brighter note was he atleast boiled enough you could add butter? (Hope that you can see the humor, and a preemptive sorry if its still to soon...., but he was a crayfish...which in the south we call crawfish...and eat...whole festivals around them ... Just sayin')
bendeng September 27, 2013 Author Share September 27, 2013 Haha @smallreef I did offer him to my fam but he ended up in the trash. I have a two small cichlids in the tank as well as a pleco so I suppose that'll stay for now. Leonard was wild caught 4 months ago. I do have a 20g xH that I'm setting up as a saltwater. Here's to hoping ill have better luck here on out Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk

I'm in Gainesville, VA Grew up in Hawaii which is where I started my fascination with tanks. Finally got my own little 10g running with freshwater. Cant wait to start cycling my 20g saltwater this weekend! Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk

bendeng September 28, 2013 Author Share September 28, 2013 No biggie. Its part of the hobby unfortunately. Such fragile creatures. I'm either gonna catch another one or invest in an ornamental crayfish in the future Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
