hlem August 21, 2013 August 21, 2013 Took a chance with this tiny guy from Steve at Incredible Corals last month.. Last month - maybe 1/5in, smaller than a zoa polyp.. Today - grew like 4-5x
Coral Hind August 21, 2013 August 21, 2013 Nice growth rate! I guess you will have to relocate the zoas soon.
Origami August 21, 2013 August 21, 2013 That's pretty cool. May I ask you what led you to pick up something so tiny at the outset?
hlem August 21, 2013 Author August 21, 2013 (edited) That's pretty cool. May I ask you what led you to pick up something so tiny at the outset? Steve's a great salesman... but more importantly, I wanted to see what it'll turn into... i love seeing corals grow...especially when something as rare as tiny fungia... you dont see those often Edited August 21, 2013 by hlem
Origami August 21, 2013 August 21, 2013 I completely understand. I had a piece of live rock with a few polyps on it once. I left it alone and it's now a small blue acro colony. Now that I think about it, Ha, did you try that single polyp propagation method that some guy in Portugal described a few years back? I started a few very small frags that way (sand and a little iodine in the floral tube and the frag pressed into the rubber top) and it did pretty well. Just curious. The fungia thing and the single-polyp thing are similar in that you're watching tiny grow to (potentially) large.

hlem October 9, 2013 Author October 9, 2013 Not sure what happened to the pics in the original post. but here they are again Sometime in July August 20th Today 10/8
kjamaya October 9, 2013 October 9, 2013 (edited) I have 2 of them, same color as well! I got mine from a piece of live rock that I ordered online. I wasn't sure what it was at first but then realized after I feed it a few meals. The reason why I have 2 is due to rearranging my rocks. I accidentally knocked the head off of its pedestal and now the pedestal is growing another head!!!! I had no idea that you can frag these guys. Edited October 9, 2013 by kjamaya
zygote2k October 9, 2013 October 9, 2013 how much did the skeleton grow? that's the best way to see if its growing. it could be polyp extension.
hlem October 9, 2013 Author October 9, 2013 Hlem, are you feeding the fungia? Nope. Barely feed the fish. Once a day with pellets and or flakes. Sometime frozen, but barely.
