That's exactly what the tea tree shampoo does...keeps their hair silky smooth and their skin underneath nice and fleas hate it! My poor dog can't use H&S as he's sensitive to everything chemical (like me) ...and use baby shampoo for their faces....

So does H&S keep the fleas away too? I know it has a lot of the same properties as tea tree for skin/dandruff.....

I got this from my holistic/traditional Vet.  I hate the chemicals and junk in frontline etc and since i got bit and treated for lymes last summer I use it on myself when hiking etc.  :)

I use the wipes and the spray.  (NO FLEAS NO TICKS ON ANY OF MY KIDS)

I don't think H&S does much for fleas, but I really don't know as I've not used it for that. H&S helps some dogs' skin conditions, but other dogs can be sensitive. The vast majority of reports that I heard in the past indicated it was not a problem, but there was the occasional report of it causing a rash. (I read one case where after going through a litany of vet-prescribed procedures and treatments, one golden's owner tried H&S and promptly cured the dog.) Like any other shampoo, you do have to rinse well. However, H&S is medicated with zinc while tea tree shampoo (I assume) uses tea tree oil. (I do use a tea tree oil cleaner for Lacey's ears.) So if one causes a response, then the other may be a viable alternative. (Goldens are notorious for having both skin and ear issues, so I guess that we're lucky that Lacey has neither.) The nice thing about H&S is that it's inexpensive and readily available in grocery and drugstores.

The other human-product that I keep on hand for Lacey is Gold Bond medicated powder should she ever get a "hot spot." Luckily, I've not had to use it for Lacey, but did use it effectively as a hot spot treatment on one of our past Goldens (Abbey).

Enough on dog products. This thread's about the dollar-a-gallon sale at Petco, right?

Also, as some of have on hand to euthanize fish, clove oil keeps fleas, ticks, and other bugs off....at home I try to grow pennyroyal around the doors the dogs go in and out of as that also keeps bugs away... I prefer plants and oils to anything like frontline as my one dog is more sensitive than even I am... And I have a horrible chemical sensitivity, lol

Yep, dollar a gallon sale at some local petcos.... Thinking about changing my sump for a 29 g if I can make it fit!

(edited)

Dulles is doing the $1 gallon sale and they have included the 55g tanks this time, previously the cut off was 40g.

Okay, to quallify that, they were still doing it over the weekend, I did not see an end date so as of today it may be over as I have no idea how long they are running it for.
