It would be amazing to have that in my basement. I would just sit and stare (or swim in it) all day long.

I remember reading about this on reefcentral I think it was. There's a build thread out there someplace for this tank. Interesting read for sure.

Wonder how he keeps the humidity in check in his house?

"the humidity is controller by an exhaust fan and a set of motorized louvers that draw in outside air , it come on for 5 minutes every half hour or if the room humidity sensor detects high humidity"

That tank has been up for several years and had threads on here before about it. It's nice to see it getting more attention. Did you see how scratched up his acrylic is? That would really bother me!

The video says its made of glass (I thought). I'm trying to figure out what this guy does to afford it.

I had that exact same question. Video says he works all the time.. but at what? As a high school drop out (not that that means anything if you are brilliant).

he buys and sells and refurbihes medical equipment. Apperantly, some of that equipment is used to search/drill for oil.

No, it's acrylic. He refurbishes high end medical equipment and is now selling large tanks and equipment for those tanks. He's brilliant.

I lived in Wisconsin when he was building this, and according to a reef hobbyist who knew him, the first time he set up a large tank he did all the wiring himself and burned down his house. However, his wife let him put a tank in the new house.

Wow, that's a hard lesson. Maybe he should have finished high school. Motto = If you like tinkering with electrical stuff at least go to a trade school.
